Summary: Gordon & MacPhail bottling from the distillery set in the village of Edderton, formerly known as the “parish of the peats”. Balblair  Balblair Distillery was originally established by John Ross at Balblair Farm just to the west of Ederton by the southern shore of the Dornoch Firth. Whilst distillation was probably in progress as early as 1749 Balblair Distillery was officially established in 1790 when most things were moved by manpower and gravity. A short move and into new buildings in 1894 right beside the railway station to connect to the markets down south. A fantastic Scottish Highland malt distillery, stone built and slate roofed, which has retained its round red brick chimney, single pagoda roof and dunnage warehouses. Whilst a large percent of Balblair malt whisky flows into Inver House Distillers blends Balblair single malt has been released by the distillery in a range of vintages including Balblair 2000, and by independent bottlers.  The nose is sweet – vanilla essence with hints of cedar wood and citrus fruits. Peaty with oaky notes (grape stalks & bracken) on the palate, touch of crushed peppercorns.

Summary: Nose – A full-bodied malt with aromas of raisin, green apple and hints of banana and lemon. The American oak barrels, used in the distillate's maturation, lend a warm toffee, vanilla fragrance. Colour – Balblair 1989 is mid-amber in appearance with honey-gold highlights. Taste – On the palate there are raisins and fruits with a rich spiciness leading to a long, complex and ultimately smooth finish.
