Tobermory 10 Year Old + Expand Info. Box Country: Scotland Region: Island
Age: 10 Year Old Vintage: Strength: Bottler: Summary: Tobermory is indeed 'A Malt to Treasure'. Its wonderfully unique and mysterious character will surprise discerning malt lovers the world over. Tobermory On the Isle of Mull, between Skye and Islay, out on the edge. Home alone. Originally a brewery but converted into a distillery way back in 1798, so one of our super-elderly. Enjoying life by the sea shore but a tad naked in a breezy environment, divested of its malting floors, filling shed and its warehouses. Its unusually twisted lyne arms contributes to a light, fruity dram. Most of its whisky matures overseas, some on Islay no less. However, since 2007 a little has been retained in a small warehouse to develop as a true island malt. The unpeated single malt is bottled as Tobermory and the peated version as Ledaig. Fine unpeated malt, yeast and water drawn from the dark aromatic Isle of Mull's peat lochans, combines with the unique climatic characteristics from Tobermory Bay to ensure a fresh, lightly peated, smokey nose. The pleasantly surprising taste profile is medium dry with a smooth and fruity tang. |

Tobermory – 10 Year Old 70cl Bottle + Expand Info. Box Country: Scotland Region: Island
Age: 10 Year Old Vintage: Strength: Bottler: Summary: Tobermory, which is distilled from unpeated malted barley, is light amber in colour, with a fresh, lightly peated smoky nose. The palate is medium-dry, smooth and fruity, with a rich and well-rounded finish. Undoubtedly, the perfect introduction to Island Malt Scotch Whiskies. The famous Tobermory distillery is very small and old, the only one on the island of Mull reopened in 1990 after a decade's 'silence'. It has continued to market two products – a malt and a blend. The former, identified as Tobermory the Malt Scotch Whisky is presented in a bottle with an enamelled label. It is a vatted malt containing some Tobermory whiskies of up to 20-years old and proportions of newly-mature spirit from elsewhere. The latter has a conventional label and is described as Tobermory blended Scotch Whisky. Single malts from this distillery have been bottled by the independants under the site's older name, Ledaig. Tobermory is the main village on Mull and the home of the distillery. It is a dramatic location at the foot of a steep hill with the distillery signalling the begining of the village, which spreads round a broad bay. The distillery was founded in 1798 and the present buildings were erected during its first period of operation which continued until 1826. The distillery was 'silent' for long periods in the mid 1800s and mid 1900s and was twice revived during the 1970s. Now it has been revived again. |

Tobermory – 15 Year Old 46.3% 70cl Bottle + Expand Info. Box Country: Scotland Region: Island
Age: 15 Year Old Vintage: Strength: 46.3% Bottler: Summary: Nose: A lovely sherried nose with notes of fig, orange marmalade, hints of leather and a touch of smoke. Palate: Medium to full bodied. Rich sherry fruit cake, milk chocolate, creamy toffee, light oak, a hint of white pepper creating a lovely spicy tang. Finish: Softly spicy, tingling with a nutty note, a hint of salt, lingering then gently fades. Appearance: A tantalising natural colour of golden chestnuts. Each drop of this rare and un-chillfiltered limited malt has been perfected using a dual-location-maturation process; first transferring the spirit into gloriously refined Gonzalez Byass Oloroso Sherry casks and then moving each cask from the mainland, where the whisky develops, back to the island for its final undisturbed year. Its natural colour and high strength – at 46.3% – ensure that the essence of Tobermory authenticity is encapsulated in every bottle. Uniquely blown glassware is gift-boxed in fine dark-gold oak, with the bottle hand wrapped in a gift tissue wrap that illustrates Tobermory Bay – a commission by painter, Sonas Maclean. Final touches include a three-piece insert; historic photography with the Master Distiller's tasting notes and a gift card with bay imagery. Like everything about this gem of a whisky, this is one to be treasured. |
