Summary: Tripe distilled Scotch whisky matured for over twelve years. Auchentoshan Auchentoshan Distillery was built by John Bulloch around 1800 on land which he purchased from Auchentoshan estate. Situated just north of Dalmuir, close by the northern bank of the River Clyde and the newly opened Forth and Clyde Canal which afforded Auchentoshan Distillery the advantage of fast and cheap transportation of its bulky raw materials heavy casks of whisky. Originally named Duntocher Distillery and officially licensed in 1823 but renamed Auchentoshan Distillery during the 1830s. Then it was in the countryside but now on the north western fringe of Glasgow, just a swift twenty minutes from the city centre and not too far from Loch Lomond. One of Scotland’s few operational Lowland malt distilleries and one of the very few distilleries in the whole of Scotland to produce whisky using a full triple distillation process. An excellent distillery tour available at the distillery visitor centre where Auchentoshan Three Wood can be sampled. A Lowland single malt whisky with the tempting aroma of toasted almonds, caramalised toffee and the signature smooth delicate, Auchentoshan taste.
