Summary: New release from spirit distilled under the stewardship of Raymond Armstrong. Matured in an ex-bourbon cask and bottled unchill-filtered. Features the Beltie label. Bladnoch John and Thomas McClelland opened Bladnoch malt whisky Distillery in 1817 on the northern bank of the River Bladnoch at Bladnoch Bridge just upstream from Wigtown in south west Scotland. A Scottish Lowlands malt whisky distillery, the most southerly of all Scotland’s distilleries and one of the small ones. Closed in 1993 but back in production again in 2000. Bladnoch Distillery is equipped with just two stills, produces peated and unpeated single malt whiskies and fills just a few hundred casks annually. Visitors welcome in the Bladnoch Distillery visitor centre. Mediun-dry and rich with good body, vanilla and an oily, unctuous smoothness, very clean and with a character of American cream soda.

Summary: 70cl / 53.4% / Distillery Bottling – A cask strength peated 9yo Bladnoch 2001. Peated Lowland whisky – you don't see a lot of that around, this may be the first one that we've come across. We expect this to be popular. At present we're not sure how 'lightly' peated this is, if anyone knows ppms etc, please post in the comments.

Summary: A new 8 year old bottling from a single cask distilled December 2001. Unusually for Bladnoch this a lightly peated release. If the previous cask was anything to go by this should be fabulous whisky. The first impression on the nose of this lightly peated whisky is of a slight smokiness and then just a drop of peat coming through on the palate as it mingles subtley with the traditional lowland flavours.

Summary: An excellent single cask Hoghshead #163304. From the Bladnoch forum series. One of 200 numbered bottles. Longmorn Plum on the pulsing artery of the Strathspey Railway which whisked its deep and sumptuous whisky right down to the blenders, right on to the ports and right out to the world. Established 1893, and followed at lightning speed in 1897 by its chum next door, to meet a huge and ever growing demand for Speyside whisky.  From four to six stills in one still house to eight in two houses all during the 1970s. Prior to the distillery a miller and his mill occupied the site and prior to the miller a minister ministered in his kirk. No visitor centre but usually open to a lucky few each year during the Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival. No tasting notes at present.

Summary: 70cl / 46% / Distillery Bottling – Another bargain from Bladnoch, whose drinkability & extra-keen pricing has really endeared it to maltfans since Raymond Armstrong revived the distillery. Bladnoch's single malts are not chill-filtered, so they may go a little cloudy when cold. Don't panic – this is a natural reaction and doesn't affect the flavour one iota.
