Summary: Rare discontinued bottling from Diageo's Flora & Fauna series. Auchroisk  Justerini & Brooks (Scotland) Ltd. established Auchroisk  malt whisky distillery in 1972. Designed to include eight copper stills in order to supply large quantities of fine Speyside malt whisky to the J&B range of blended scotch. Situated between Rothes and Mulben in the heart of the Speyside whisky region to take advantage of soft local water and the cool environment. Whitewashed with slate roofs, not a lot of glass, an outline which hardly punctures the skyline in a low and open landscape, a relatively modern distillery which is rather pleasing on the eye. Auchroisk whisky is matured in American and European oak casks and just a small percentage, including Auchroisk 10 year old year old, has been released by the distillery as single malt.  Smoke and nutty sweetness followed by a dry and well balanced finish.

Summary: 70cl / 60.6% / Distillery Bottling – Since the demise of the original Singleton range, official bottlings of Auchroisk are rarer than talented X-Factor wannabes – we reckon that this 1999 Managers' Choice cask strength ex-sherry 9 year old might be only the third OB we've had in recent times, alongside the Flora & Fauna bottling and a Rare Malts version. At 60.6%, this will be one for the sherry monsters out there.
