Summary: Colour:Straw yellow. Neat: Nose – Citrus fruits (lemons & limes) with hint of honey and pine resin. Peaty malty notes in the background. Palate: Smoky with cereal and malt flavours. Dries up with spicy/peppery notes followed by a delicate floral edge. With Water: Nose – Sweet, chocolate and fudge aromas. Floral elements and a hint of phenols (germolene). Palate: Toasted/smoky flavours initially with a subtle fragrance. Some fruity notes develop along with an earthy, vanilla edge. Body: Rounded with a balance of flavours. Finish: Slightly sweet with a hint of smoke and malt. Launched in March 2004, this is the first whisky distilled after the re-opening of Benromach in 1998 and is the first whisky distilled by Gordon and MacPhail. Using only the finest peated malted barley and the purest spring water from the nearby Romach hills, Benromach Traditional is hand made by their experienced distillers, before being matured in hand selected oak casks at the distillery. The pace is a little slower in the heart of Speyside, they take their time, checking each stage by hand, personally ensuring only the highest quality spirit is filled into oak casks that have been carefully selected by hand. And it doesn't stop there. The casks, full of new whisky, are laid down to mature at the distillery where their experienced distillers regularly check them. Only when it has matured to their high quality standards, do they bottle the whisky and proudly label it – Benromach. Michael Jackson is internationally the most widely published author on whisky. Summary: Benromach Peat Smoke has a seriously smoky character (peating level of 35-PPM). It is complex, intense and challenging – yet balanced with the fruity elegance of Speyside. Benromach Benromach Distillery was designed by Charles C. Diog and constructed at Forres in 1898 on the crest of the demand for blended Scottish whisky during the 1890s. Benromach was due to commence production in 1899 but the demand for its scotch collapsed when the principle purchaser of Benromach’s malt whisky, Pattison‘s of Leith, went bankrupt causing Benromach to sit silent as the next decade rolled by. Subsequent introduction of prohibition and two world wars led to intermittent production until some major investment and refurbishment in the 1960s and 1970s turned Benromach into a thoroughly modern distillery, only to closed again in 1983. Ten years later it was purchased by the independent bottlers Gordon and MacPhail who fired up its single pair of stills in 1998 and have nurtured Benromach ever since. Proudly produced the first certified organic Scottish malt whisky in 2006. Welcomes visitors into the Benromach Distillery visitor centre and is a participant in the Speyside Whisky Festival. A sweet smokiness nose comes to the fore. A pleasant cigar like note is present. Fresh with hints of green apples – Granny Smith. Palate: Subtle phenolic flavour with a heavy sweet peat smoke influence.

Without water Nose: Rich sherry influence with fruit & nut chocolate and delicate spice – cinnamon. Fresh green apples, with a malty, digestive biscuit note and light peat smoke in the background. Palate: Delicious forest fruits – raspberries and brambles, sherry, malt creaminess with a stronger peat influence. With water Nose: Charred oak influence and malt. Slightly nutty with exotic fruits – pineapple and kiwi. Palate: Mouth coating with toasted malt. lingering sweet sherry and delicate peat smoke.
