That Boutique-y Whisky Company’s Bowmore – Batch 1 is a peated Single Malt Scotch Whisky from the island of Islay, bottled from a selected parcel of whisky without an age statement. The whisky is an excellent after-dinner drink with delectable notes of coastal peat, candied orange peel, and dried fruits.
The bottle is adorned with a hand-illustrated comic book style label featuring a cheeky schoolboy (clutching a bra!) being chased by the lifeguard from Bowmore’s local swimming pool – which is warmed by the waste heat from the distillery’s copper pot stills.
That Boutique-y Whisky Company bottles Single Malt Whisky in the truest sense of the term: a blend of casks of malt whisky from a single distillery.
The whiskies are bottled without age statements for the simple reason that a batch may have some very old whisky in it, but could also have some younger whisky in it as well.
It is available now from Master Of Malt (50cl) at £52.95
That Boutique-y Whisky Company’s Bowmore – Batch 1 (48.7% abv) – Tasting Notes
Nose: Phenolic peat hits the nose first followed by waves of dried fruits – notably sultanas, cranberries, and dates – with a salty afterthought.
Palate: A velvety mouth-feel with drifting peat smoke and hints of iodine. Then there is a rush of candied citrus peels and masses of sherry-soaked dried fruit.
Finish: The finish is long and lingering with notes of pear, dried apricot, and beach bonfire smoke.
