Longrow

Longrow Malt Whisky

At one time Campbeltown was the heart of the whisky industry. Campbeltown is a small town of around 5000 and boasted an incredible thirty-four legal working distilleries and proclaimed itself the whisky capital of the world.
Longrow is the peated, double-distilled malt produced at the Springbank distillery in Campbeltown. Springbank is perched on the edge of Campbeltown Loch towards the bottom of the Kintyre peninsula in the West of Scotland. It is roughly three hours drive southwest from Glasgow.

Summary: Tasting notes Colour – Light amber with slight olive highlights. Nose – Very creamy, vanilla custard. The smoke develops gradually, like a slow burning log fire, never overpowering but always reassuring. Our guest taster was reminded of marshmallows toasted on a campfire – crisp on the outside and sticky sweet in the middle Palate – Incredibly well balanced – rich and creamy with a slight medicinal hint. The smoke is always present, washing over the palate in waves, like the soft billows of smoke from the kiln. Finish – The gentle smoke lingers and lingers leaving you yearning for more From Springbank Distillery

Dark and slightly mysterious, the 18-year-old Longrow has a complex nose that unearths a peaty aroma reminiscent of dunnage warehouses.

NOSE: A complex nose: Sweet fruits, citrus, peaches and orange zest at first before a gentle earthy peaty aroma reveals itself.

PALATE: Rich and very, very tasty. Well balanced. Dark chocolate, creamy coffee and gingerbread to the fore, followed by rhubarb and vanilla custard.

FINISH: Long and sweet, a hint of typical Longrow peat smoke combined with more chocolate and some dried fruits.
