Today, Master Of Malt are pleased to add a 60 year old Single Malt Whisky to their award-winning Secret Bottlings series!
Distilled and matured at an undisclosed, but famous, Speyside distillery, Master Of Malt are able to offer this new 60 year old single malt at an amazing £999.95 a bottle!
The fact that they have been able to get hold of a malt of such an age is amazing in itself, the marketplace is not exactly awash with 60 year old malts.
But if you also add the fact that whiskies even half this age go for this kind of money then £999.95 represents an un-beatable price for 70cl. of drinkable history.
The Secret Bottlings range offer an opportunity to purchase a truly great malt and basically you are paying for just that – a great malt – NOT the branding and advertising that can hike up the price to an astronomical level.
These bottlings, apart from being great value for money, have already been recognised by the Drinks fraternity:-
Their 30 Year Old won Gold Outstanding at the International Wine & Spirits Competition in 2013.
The 40 Year Old achieved Gold and Best in Class at the International Spirits Challenge, also in 2013.
Their previous edition of the current 50 Year Old achieved an extraordinary score of 96.5 in Jim Murray’s Whisky Bible 2014.
Tasting Notes – Master Of Malt 60 Year Old Speyside (1st Edition)
Master Of Malt 60 Year Old Speyside (1st Edition) |
Nose: Woody, caramel, raisins and a hint of soft fruits.
Palate: I was expecting wood but, surprisingly, that’s very muted. Light caramel, spice, sweet plump raisins garnished with nutmeg. Finish: Quite tanin, long finish, long pleasantly balanced spice combined with tobacco. Overall: A well defined quality dram, certainly something a bit special. An occasion dram waiting for the right occasion. But then, that occasion could be very swiftly found! |
Many thanks to Master Of Malt for the sample.
