Deanston is housed in a former cotton mill in the central Highlands dating back to the late eighteenth century. The buildings were converted in to a distillery in 1966.
Invergordon acquired it in 1972 but the distillery ceased production in 1982 and was mothballed until 1990. It was then bought and re-opened by Burn Stewart Distillers.
About 15% of the whisky produced at Deanston is reserved or bottled as a single malt The remainder is used for blends.
