Islay Single Malts (pronounced “Ile” in Gaelic) are whiskies produced on the Inner Hebridean Island located off the west coast of Scotland.
There are eight active distilleries on the island with the newest and ninth (Kilchoman) making limited stocks available as production becomes ready for release.
Islay is a centre of “whisky tourism” and hosts a “Festival of Malt and Music” known as Feis Ile each year at the end of May. It includes events and tastings celebrating the cultural heritage of the island.
