“The finest example of a Lowland malt…a grievous loss” – Michael Jackson’s Malt Whisky Companion.
Rosebank was built by James Rankine on the banks of the Forth-Clyde canal between Glasgow and Edinburgh in 1840 (although distilling is said to have been carried out on the site since the late 18th century). Rosebank became a limited company in 1894 and in 1914 was one of the founding members of the Scottish Malt Distillers Ltd (later to be taken over by DCL in 1929).
The distillery is now closed and as of 2006 parts of the distillery have been demolished to make way for a housing development.
An unusual whisky, pale green & gold, smells of fresh-cut grass and lemon, tastes very cereal. Perfect as an aperitif with a little ice.
