The modern Glendullan distillery was constructed in 1972 and is one of the larger distilleries in Diageo’s whisky distillery stable. It was sited next door to the previous distillery which had been built in the late 1890s and the whisky had found favour at the court of King Edward VII in 1902.
The two distilleries ran concurrently until 1985 when the original distillery was mothballed and converted into a workshop for distillery engineers. During this time the malt from the two distilleries was vatted together. A practice that would not be permitted these days.
