Forthcoming Events Update

May 24, 2011 by Gary Leave a Comment

Just a quick update from our events diary page regarding some forthcoming whisky tasting events organised by The Whisky Lounge.

Berry Brothers & Rudd
Friday 17th. June 2011 (7:30pm) The Britons Protection, Manchester

Tuesday 21st. June 2011 (7:30pm) The Red Lion, Crown Passage, London SW1

Tickets £22.00

Berry Brothers and Rudd have long been associated with fine wine and their shop in St. James’, London is a real experience and akin to stepping back in time to Dickensian Britain. For some years now they have also been developing a formidable reputation for bottling fine whiskies.
These normally take the form of single cask, single malt and bottled at no less than 46% ABV. Join us on this fantastic evening when Eddie Ludlow will be showing off some of the latest and greatest additions from this most incredible independent bottler. Due to the sheer breadth of what they bottle, this tasting really is suitable for all tastes and we believe your breath will be taken away by the quality on offer!

Bluffer’s Guide to Whisky
Monday 22nd. August 2011 (7:30pm)The Red Lion, Crown Passage, London SW1

Friday 26th. August 2011 (7:30pm) The Britons Protection, Manchester

Saturday 27th. August 2011 (7:30pm) Blackfriars, Newcastle Upon Tyne

Tickets £10.00

For those who “.. always wanted to know about whisky, but were afraid to ask”…
We recognize that not everyone knows their Peat from their Pot Stills or their Glenlivet from their Glenmorangie, so this series has been put together with these poor, misguided individuals in mind!
Six whiskies from the various whisky-making regions of Scotland in a tasting designed to get the learning juices flowing.

The Macallan – Rare And Increasing In Price

May 24, 2011 by Gary Leave a Comment

Macallan 1950 / 52 Year Old / Fine & Rare #598

Macallan 1950 / 52 Year Old / Fine & Rare #598

The Macallan malt whisky has seen a steep increase in retail prices in it’s highly collectable ‘Fine & Rare’ range in the past week with prices rising by between 2% and a whopping 59%. Though the average was a much more sedate 10%.

So it can only be concluded that these malts are becoming rarer and more sought after. Low stocks with high demand and price increases are inevitable and they certainly seem to be out-stripping the rate of inflation and the general increases in the cost of living.

The 59% increase goes to the Macallan 1950 / 52 Year Old / Fine & Rare – (Increase: £2,751.45 Percentage Rise: 59% Now: £7,450.00 Was: £4,698.55 )

If you’re looking into collecting then maybe The Macallans are worth investigating. With dwindling supplies and no forseeable decrease in demand, prices are set to increase further.

The full details are shown below:-
