Whisky Me was founded by Thomas Aske and Tristan Stephenson of Black Rock – the east London bar that’s made whisky accessible to all since 2016.
It is a Whisky Club for The Curious and promises a monthly dram of incredible Single Malt Scotch or World Whisky – curated from the planet’s best distilleries – delivered to your door.
Being snobby or elitist about whisky is not part of their ethos. They know there’s no such thing as a typical whisky drinker and to prove it, their aim is to drop drams of the world’s greatest whiskies through as many letterboxes as possible!

They are both classy drams which highlight some of the familiar aromas and flavours of Bonfire Night, from a fruity Aberfeldy 12 Year Old to a smokey Glenturret 10 Year Old!
So, what did I think? Here are my tasting notes on these Bonfire Night goodies …
Tasting Notes – Aberfeldy 12 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky (40%)

Nose: Fruity, syrupy sweet apple orchards with hints of pears, tropical fruits, blackcurrant and liquorice.
Palate: A light palate with cane sweetness, toffee apples and liquorice. Finish: Mild spice but the sweeter, fruity palate flavours shine through with some dryness at end. Overall: A lovely fruity, light whisky which is perfect for celebrating with – I would love to sample it at cask strength! |
Tasting Notes – Glenturret 10 Year Old Peat Smoked Single Malt Scotch Whisky (50%)

Nose: Rich, smokehouse aromas with sweet peaty smoke and a little fruity oil.
Palate: Lovely, substantial mouthfeel with sweet, smokey treacle all wrapped up in savoury yuminess! Finish: Glowing, peaty spice, char and that ever-present sweet treacle with an additional growing antiseptic finish. Overall: For a 50% this is a very smooth dram and the extra ABV is certainly a plus – so curl up by the fire, pour yourself a dram and get all smokey! |
