Edencroft has in stock a new Girvan Single Grain Whisky – 25 Year Old from the Lowland region.
||Girvan Single Grain Whisky – Scotts Selection 25 Year Old Edition
Country: Scotland Region: Lowland
Age: 47 Year Old Strength: 48.8%
Summary: Nose: distant echoes of bourbon but also sports a non-specific fruitiness. Beautifully clean with a little toffee and coffee for good measure;
Taste: excellent and unexpected early arrival of spice which adds serious oomph to the buttery toffee that tries to lead. Golden syrup and maple syrup for the sugary context (and what a delight that is!);
Finish: makes the usual attempt to bitter up you’d expect from a grain but the prevailing spices and vanillas, plus a little late mocha, counter impressively;
Balance: Girvan, like Invergordon, is grain which takes full advantage of its sumptuous persona. Here, though, it adds some controlled sharpness. But it’s the lordly sugars which really win the day. Superb.
