The name Étän holds a special significance, as it means “five” in Mungaka, their parents’ dialect. This name represents the unbreakable bond between the five sisters—Laura, Briget, Noella, Caroline, and Kareen—who embarked on a journey to create something truly remarkable. Inspired by their Cameroonian heritage, they pooled their passion and expertise to craft a rum that pays homage to the melting pot of ethnic cultures in Cameroon.

On an episode of Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch, co-host Simon Rimmer described a cocktail containing Étän Rum as “terrifyingly delicious.” The Rum Ambassador Ian Burrell mixed a handful of British-made craft rum cocktails on the show and the guests unanimously voting the Étän cocktail as their favourite.
