Limited Edition 2012 Ardbeg Galileo
There has been a fair bit of speculation on t’internet recently regarding the name and details of Ardbegs next release.
Well, here’s the exciting news, the new Limited Edition Release for 2012 is the Ardbeg Galileo.
This is to celebrate Ardbeg’s first ever experiment in space! (They sent a sample of new make spirit to the International Space Station to study how zero gravity affects it’s maturation.)
- It is an 1999 Ardbeg first bottled in 2012.
- The ‘heart’ is Ardbeg matured in ex-marsala casks from Sicily.
- Balanced with first fill ex- bourbon casks.
- 49% ABV Non Chill-Filtered.
The Ardbeg Galileo will not be available until September and as yet the price is unknown.
But one thing is certain, stocks will be very limited so if you would like a bottle you need to get in touch with Mark ASAP.

Ardbeg Galileo – Tasting & Release Notes
Colour: Deep Amber
Nose: At full strength, soot / tar, spicy toffee, Butterkist popcorn with hints of ripe, exotic tropical fruits (banana, mango and lychee).
A splash of water releases fresh, salving antiseptic notes and a hint of sea spray
Taste: The chewy / oily texture leads in to sweet, creamy fudge, smoked apricots smothered in cream, ripe banana and lots of spices – cinnamon, clove and aniseed
Finish: The smoky, but sweet, finish lingers long in the mouth, again drawing the mind back to rich, smoked fruits
