Malt Tasting: Invergordon – Batch 1 (That Boutique-y Whisky Company)
This is the final malt whisky sampling for the moment (Boo!) from That Boutique-y Whisky Company, but if I’m a good boy I might get a few more in the future! 😉
Anyway, this one is the Invergordon – Batch 1 which is available from Master Of Malt and has a release figure of 252 numbered bottles.
Invergordon is a grain whisky and there’s not too much of it about. But all is not lost as the That Boutique-y Whisky Company people have taken the best of the best of each year to produce a formidable whisky.
That Boutique-y Whisky Company has also become famous for it’s quirky labelling system and this one is no exception.
It boasts an illustration of a Coffey still which is one of the features of the distillery. (Also called a continuous still. It is often used to produce single grain whisky such as the Invergordon. It enables a constant process of distillation and the ability to produce a higher concentration of alcohol.)
But if you look at the label closely you’ll see that it all is not quite as it seems!
Tasting Notes

Nose: I agree with MOM here, creamy caramel with a hint of sweet spices.
Palate: Gorgeous syrupy texture, treacle or maybe black molasses with the beginnings of some spice and pepper. Finish: Spicy and peppery coupling with toffee caramel. It all slips down easily! Overall: A superb dram with a distinctive flavour and texture. Be mean with this one, tell your friends it’s all gone! |
