First, appreciate the rich amber colour created by lingering for 43 years in a single Refill Sherry Hogshead as the whisky grew and matured in character. Enjoy the aromas without water… stewed apple, dried fruits and winter spices mingle with caramelised brown sugar and roasted nuts leading to rich dark chocolate with hints of beeswax polish, mature oak and orange citrus. Now take a sip. Creamy milk chocolate, intense Seville orange top notes and a hint of cracked black pepper on the tongue lead to stewed plum and red apple. Dried tobacco and charred oak notes come to the fore with a hint of smoke. Add a few drops of water and take time to enjoy the developing aromas… intense orange and lime citrus notes are followed by stewed red fruits with an undertone of warm ginger and slight aniseed edge. Take a sip. Vibrant citrus fruits mingle with smooth strawberry and cream followed by hints of liquorice and gentle traces of lingering smoke on the finish. Superb! |

Spicy and nutty on the palate with a touch of toffee leading to a long, rich, peppery finish.
