Glendronach 41 Year Old Batch 6 Cask #1247 Country: Scotland Region: Speyside Age: 41 Year Old Strength: Summary: Glendronach 41 Year Old Speyside single malt Scotch whisky. Batch 6. Single Pedro Ximénez sherry puncheon #1247. Distilled February 1971 and bottled 2012. Limited to 529 numbered bottles. Glendronach Glendronach malt whisky distillery was established north east of Huntley in Scotland’s Highland whisky region by James Allardice in 1826. The malting floors at Glendronach Distillery closed in 1996 and it was the last distillery in Scotland to heat its stills directly with flames from a coal-fired furnace, until it had to comply with new regulations in 2005. Glendronach Distillery is resplendent with a traditional cask iron mash tun, wooden washbacks, four stills matures its malt whisky in top quality sherry casks. Glendronach Distillery has a distillery visitor centre offering a range of distillery tours and the distillery participates is the Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival. Nose: A crescendo of Demerara sugar and Pedro Ximenez sherry notes, and then drifting into the picture dark chocolate and figs. Palate: Luxuriant chocolate-coated raisins, and a wave of spices followed by an explosion of sweet molasses, Demerara and mocha. |

Benrinnes 34 Year Old Connoisseurs Choice Country: Scotland Region: Speyside Age: 34 Year Old Strength: Summary: Benrinnes 1976 vintage Connoisseurs Choice single malt Scocth whisky. Matured in first fill and refill sherry casks. Distilled March 1976 and bottled August 2010 by Gordon & MacPhail. Benrinnes Benrinnes Distillery was established by Peter Mackenzie in 1826 on the north-west shoulder of Ben Rinns Mountain and until the advent of modern road transport systems Benrinnes Distillery was rather isolated. Only a small percentage of Benrinnes malt whisky is released as Benrinnes single malt including Benrinnes Flora & Fauna. Since 1956 distillation at Benrinnes followed an unusual and complex partial triple distillation process but this was replaced by double distillation around 2010. Benrinnes Distillery is one of the few Scottish distilleries continuing to cool its spirit in traditional worm tubs and is a participant in the Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival. Nose: Initial Sherry notes, some hints of rum and raisin emerge. A subtle vanilla note develops with hints of toasted almonds. Palate: Heavy Sherry influences, some nutty overtones. Smooth and mouth warming. Fruity – cooked plums and red berries. |

Macallan Speymalt 2000 Country: Scotland Region: Speyside Age: Strength: Vintage: 2000 Bottler: Summary: Macallan Speymalt 2000 vintage Speyside single malt Scotch whisky. Matured in refill sherry casks. Bottled by Gordon & MacPhail. The Macallan The Macallan Distillery was established by Alexander Reid in 1824 near Easter Elchies House on the Easter Elchies estate. Easter Elchies House dates back to 1700. Macallan Distillery is a malt whisky distillery situated in Scotland’s Speyside whisky region. The old still house was re-commissioned in 2008 and now Macallan Distillery operates with two still houses sheltering twenty-one copper stills. On-site maturation is carried out in traditional dunnage warehouses and by racking in large new warehouses on the estate. The Macallan visitor centre welcomes visitors throughout the year and offers distillery tours. The Macallan Distillery also participates in the Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival. Nose: Sherried, with fragrant fruity notes. Hints of marzipan/almonds. Some brown sugar and influences of Christmas cake develop. Tamdhu 10 Year Old Sherry Cask Country: Scotland Region: Speyside Age: 10 Year Old Strength: Summary: Tahmdhu 10 Year Old Islay single malt Scotch whisky. From a single a refill sherry hogshead #610 distilled 2001. For the Gordon & MacPhail Cask Strength range. Tamdhu Tamdhu Distillery was founded in 1896, designed by Charles Doig and opened in 1897 in Scotland’s Speyside whisky region. Tamdhu Distillery was originally equipped with two stills which increased to four in 1972 and then six in 1975 in order to cope with the ever increasing demand for Famous Grouse and Cutty Sark blends of scotch to which Tamdhu was a major contributor. When the nearby railway station closed in 1965 the ticket office was subsequently converted into the Tamdhu Distillery visitor centre and the distillery became a founding member of the Speyside Whisky Trail. But the Tamdhu Distillery visitor centre closed and then Tamdhu Distillery itself in March 2010 and with it the last working Saladin malting boxes in Scotland. A year later and Ian Macleod Distillers purchased Tamdhu Distillery, and thus its working life is assured. Nose: Rum and raisin notes, with a rounded hint of sweet Sherry. Some marzipan emerges and hints of tropical fruits linger. Palate: A smooth and creamy palate, which reveals a warming burst of mixed spices, followed by a sweet Sherry influence and delicate summer fruit flavours. |
