Attention all you choccy fans or maybe even spicy, choccy fans!
There’s a new malt in town from That Boutique-y Whisky Company by the chaps at Master Of Malt.
Perfect for those of you with a hankering for a cocoa hit.
If you don’t already know, ‘That Boutique-y Whisky Company’ bottles Scotch Single Malt Whiskies from a variety of renowned distilleries.
And This time it is the turn of the Isle of Arran to get the ‘treatment’ from That Boutique-y Whisky Company with a release of 211 numbered bottles.
The comic book scene that adorns this first batch of Arran shows the artist, Emily Chappell and friend on a disasterous kayaking expedition which ends up with both of them being shipwrecked on the island of Arran.
They are shown desperately flagging down the Waverley cruise ship which goes from Glasgow to Arran.
The eagle in the foreground is a reference to the nesting eagles which postponed the distillery’s build in the 1990s!
Tasting Notes
Arran – Batch 1 (That Boutique-y Whisky Company) |
Nose: Citrus, spice and a waft of sweet cocoa dust – divine!
Palate: Sultanas hits you first, it’s a little oily on the palate (but not too much). There’s coconut, cocoa and chocolate in there as well. Finish: Very chocolatey, short finish with a touch of spice. Actually caught a hint of mint in there! Overall: This is lovely! An amazing malt with lots of flavours and bags of character. |
Many thanks to Master Of Malt for this sample.
