Cù Bòcan have unleashed a different kind of beast. This special limited edition Cù Bòcan has been crafted by marrying refill Hogshead and refill Sherry butt matured whisky distilled on 2nd December 1988.
In their past lives, the casks were home to one of Islay’s peatiest potions and hints of the untamed spirit have been working their smoky magic over the years. The final creation – earthy, oaky and sweet – is now ready to be devoured.
Nose: Delicate campfire smoke and sweet ash give way to stewed pears, Peach Melba and toasted coconut. Hints of fresh cut grass, heather and cereal linger in the background with creamy buttermilk.
Mouth: Candied tropical fruits are perfectly balanced with an earthy peat tang. In time, warming dried fruit, blood orange and a gentle nut note emerge.
Finish: Earthy smoke and oak spice linger with a creamy texture.

Nose: Sweet toasted oak spices interwoven with roasted orchard fruits and dusted with cracked barley. Black vanilla pods, desiccated coconut and a gentle floral note add complexity to the ripe, fruit-laden nose.
Taste: An excellent example of the delicious BenRiach character. Creamy heather honey pours over a medley of apples, pears and apricots. Subtle notes of candied peel and fresh ginger give a delicate warmth and lead to a classic combination of vanilla, toasted coconut and sweet barley in the luscious, velvety finish.

The Kininvie Distillery was opened on 5th July 1990 by Janet Sheed Robert, Grand-daughter of William Grant.
On that very day Cask 21 was filled and laid down in our warehouse.
An American oak, hogshead, the cask that previously held Bourbon has rested at Kininvie for 25 years until it’s release this autumn.
Cask 21 has yielded only 500 35cl bottles which have been bottled at cask strength and are not chill filtered.
Nose: Aromatic with a leafy fresh green character. Hints of geranium and spring meadow.
Taste: Rich oakiness with a defined fresh vanilla sweetness. Fleshy fruit and ripe berries are overlaid with a touch of dry oak tannin.
Finish: Sweet with a lasting oakiness.

Since launching the Compass Box Whisky Co., I have always been a firm believer in the spirit of enlightenment – that the more information we can share with our customers about the Scotch whisky we produce, the better. Alas, it transpires such beliefs fall foul of current EU and UK regulations, which prevent us from sharing information about the age of every component whisky used in the creation of our blends.
This whisky, Enlightenment, is our response to these regulations.
Inspired by the writers, philosophers and scientists of the Age of Enlightenment it sets out to encourage the industry to consider the absurdity of a system that prevents producers from telling consumers exactly what has gone into the whiskies they are drinking. And of course the whisky itself is something rather special. A blend of fruity, fragrant Highland Single Malt Scotch Whiskies, it is bursting with aromas of fresh orchard fruit, flavours of vanilla, soft spice and pear and an alluring apple peel waxiness on the finish. An uplifting, enlightening whisky with which to ponder the world of Scotch not only as it is but also as it could be.
John Glaser, Whiskymaker.
Flavour Descriptors: Fresh, vibrant and uplifting with a mouthfeel that is moreish and mouth-watering. On the nose you will find bright apple and pear, vanilla cream and light violet; on the palate soft spice, gentle citric notes and more of that uplifting orchard fruit character.
Recommendations: True to its name, this is an enlightening whisky enjoyed equally well in moments of quiet contemplation or at the heart of a lively discussion with friends. Perfect served as an aperitif with ice and a splash of water or soda water.

“None of us is as smart as all of us” Japanese Proverb.
This is a proverb that means a lot to me, enough that I featured it on the Compass Box website in 2000 when I started the business.

Over our first ten years there have been many people who have helped Compass Box achieve our success. This special 10th Anniversary bottling of our signature whisky Hedonism, bringing back our iconic "Hedonism head” (created by graphic artist Chris Edmunds for our first release), is a tribute to everyone who has helped Compass Box in our first decade.
The original bottling of Hedonism was the culmination of a painstaking search for great casks and it set a course for what Hedonism has become. I spent many months collecting cask samples from different distilling companies and brokers, tasting and re-tasting, blending the very best casks in innumerable combinations, until I felt I had something unassailably good. Good enough to launch the Compass Box Whisky Company.
The single cask, distilled in 1971 at the Invergordon Distillery, while much older than what we typically use for Hedonism, represents to me perfection in maturation, the basis for all the casks we select for Hedonism going back to that first batch in 2000.
This special edition is meant to be a suitable toast to all of you who have helped make Compass Box what it is today.
Thank you. Above all, share and enjoy.
John Glaser, Whiskymaker.
Availability: Only 144 bottles released for sale. This is a one-off bottling.
Flavour Descriptors: Deep, rich ï¬Â‚avours of vanilla, coconut and spice.
Recommendations: Sipped neat or with a splash of water to taste.
Distillery Sourcing: Single Invergordon cask distilled in 1971.
Wood: 100% American White Oak.

Compass Box / Hedonism Blended Grain
Compass Box / Hedonism Blended Grain

Hedonism is Compass Boxes unique and award-winning blended grain Scotch whisky. They produce it once or twice per year, depending on their ability to source the quality of casks they require. Rare and old, it’s something special for both the collector and the new whisky enthusiast.
Rare, Old Scotch Grain Whisky: Hedonism is unusual in the Scotch whisky world: a blended grain Scotch whisky. It is very rare to see 100% grain whisky bottlings, in Scotland. Going back 100 years, grain whisky brands were more common, but they were overtaken in popularity by the big brands of blended Scotch, which comprised both grain whisky and malt whisky. Today, most Scotch grain whisky gets blended into the big brand names, typically at young ages. For Hedonism, they search for old casks of Scotch grain whisky. And they only produce Hedonism once a year, when they find casks with the right flavour profile.
Rich, Sweet, Alluring: When good Scotch grain whisky is aged in good quality American oak casks, the results can be stunning: a rich, sweet, alluring whisky, redolent of vanilla, pastry cream and coconut. You’ll find all these things in the Hedonism bottlings. We believe that great Scotch grain whisky is the little-known treasure of the Scotch whisky industry.
Flavour Descriptors: Elegant flavours of vanilla cream, toffee, coconut.
Recommendations: As an aperitif, serve with a small amount of chilled water. Late in the evening, serve neat. Also makes a great whisky sour.
Distillery Sourcing: Will vary according to batch but typically whiskies from the following distilleries: Cameron Bridge, Carsebridge, Cambus, Port Dundas or Dumbarton.
Wood: 100% first-fill American oak barrels or rejuvenated American oak Hogsheads.
