Compass Box / Spice Tree Extravaganza
Compass Box / Spice Tree Extravaganza

£95.00
Country: Scotland
Region:
Age:
Strength: 46.%
70cl

Summary: Country/Region: Scotland.
ABV: 46%
Unit: 70cl
Ten years ago, we were compelled to discontinue production of one of our most innovative Scotch whiskies – The Spice Tree – due to a certain avantegarde approach to cask maturation that was deemed ‘untraditional’.
In the years that followed we were able to work with cooper friends in both France and Scotland to bring back The Spice Tree and now today – on the tenth anniversary of the original bottling being banned – we are proud to release this Limited Edition whisky: Spice Tree Extravaganza.
As the name suggests, the liquid draws its inspiration from The Spice Tree but reinterprets it through the use of older components and a significant portion of sherry-cask aged malt whisky. The Spice Tree’s trademark spice character is retained but set within a richer, more elegant frame with a new depth of flavour and complexity Above all, share and enjoy.
Availability: Limited Edition release of 12,240 bottles worldwide.
Bottled: August 2016.
Flavour Descriptors: Decadent and playful on the nose, you will find notes of sherry wine, dark berries and the fragrant sweetness of traditional sweet shops. On the palate there is juicy red fruit, a dark brown sugar richness, the trademark Spice Tree ginger and clove spice character and an endlessly long, spicy, substantial finish.
Recommendations: This is an excessive, rich, dare we say extravagant whisky. The perfect drink with which to mark one of our more infamous anniversaries. Drink it any way you like – there are no rules that can’t be broken.
John Glaser, Whisky-maker.

Compass Box / Double Single
Compass Box / Double Single

£110.00
Country: Scotland
Region:
Age:
Strength: 53.3%
70cl

Summary: Country/Region: Scotland. ABV: 53.3%. Unit: 70cl To celebrate our 10th anniversary we have brought back a small-batch whisky we first and last made in 2003. Double Single is a marriage of two single whiskies – one single malt and one single grain. The idea highlights the true virtue of blending grain whisky with malt whisky to create a truly elegant style. The Art of Blending: What if we were to match perfectly one single malt whisky with one single grain whisky in just the right proportions? That is, what if we were to make a blended Scotch whisky with only two components, only two single whiskies rather than many? What if we were to make… a “double single”? This is the question our friends Duncan Elphick and Tatsuya Minagawa of the Highlander Inn on Speyside asked us in 2003, resulting in our first limited release bottling of The Double Single. For our 10th anniversary year, we’ve decided to bring it back. The whiskies we’ve chosen this time: an malt whisky distilled at Glen Elgin distillery and a grain whisky distilled at Port Dundas, both aged in American oak. The combination yields a full, soft palate of flavours reminiscent of pear fruit, maltiness, vanilla and crème brûlée. This whisky is a testament to the virtues of combining grain whisky with malt whisky, a testament to the virtues of blended Scotch whisky. The grain whisky creates a lovely, soft, sweet pillow on which the malt whisky flavours luxuriate. This is just as great blended Scotch whisky should be. Share and Enjoy. John Glaser, Whiskymaker. Availability: One-off, limited release of 876 bottles. Bottled in September 2010. Flavour Descriptors: Full, soft palate of flavours reminiscent of pear fruit, maltiness, vanilla and crème brûlée. Recommendations: Sipped neat or with the addition of water, to taste. Wood: Glen Elgin was aged in a refill American oak hogshead, the Port Dundas in a first-fill American oak hogshead.

Compass Box / Three Year Old Deluxe
Compass Box / Three Year Old Deluxe

£190.00
Country: Scotland
Region:
Age:
Strength: 49.2%
70cl

Summary: Country/Region: Scotland.
ABV: 49.2%
Unit: 70cl
Composed of less than 1% three year-old malt whisky produced near the village of Brora, 90% malt whisky of an unstated age from the same distillery and around 9% peaty malt whisky distilled on the Isle of Skye, regulations only permit us only to share details of the age of youngest component! No matter. For it is this three year-old that is most important to us. Aged from new-make spirit in our own first-fill American oak casks, it imparts a lively vivacity and represents a milestone in our development as whisky makers..
The rich vanilla notes, waxy mouth feel and decadent baked orchard fruit notes from the larger parcel of Highland malt whisky provide a beautiful platform on top of which the brooding qualities of the peaty malt whisky and the clean, bright character of the three year-old parcel are able to shine.
No matter. For it is this three year-old component that we think is truly special – aged by us, from the time it was new-make spirit just off the still, in our own high quality first-fill American oak casks. It imparts a lively vivacity to the blend, as well as representing a milestone in our development as whisky-makers, as it is from our very first campaign of laying down new-make spirit.
3 Year-Old Deluxe is a celebration of the role that whiskies of all ages can play in a well-constructed blend. We like to say that it is … precociously mature. However you drink it, whoever you share it with, above all share and enjoy.
Availability: Limited Edition release of 3,282 bottles worldwide.
Bottled: August 2016.
Flavour Descriptors: The rich vanilla notes, waxiness and decadent baked orchard fruit notes from the larger parcel of Highland malt whisky provide a beautiful platform on top of which the brooding qualities of the peaty malt whisky and the clean, bright character of the three year-old parcel are able to shine.
Recommendations: This is a rather unusual three year old Scotch whisky that we recommend enjoying on equally unusual occasions. Share it with friends and family on special occasions, perhaps with cheese at the end of a satisfying lunch.
However you drink it, whoever you share it with, above all share and enjoy.
John Glaser, Whisky-maker.
