Fettercairn Launches Warehouse 2 Batch No. 002 After Global Sell-Out Of Batch No. 001!

August 18, 2021 by Gary Leave a Comment

New Fettercairn Warehouse 2 Batch No. 002!

Discover Fettercairn: Rare, Pure & Enlightened!

Following the overwhelming success of the first release from its new, small batch collection, Fettercairn Distillery has unveiled Warehouse 2 Batch No.002 showcasing the treasures of its 14 dunnage warehouses, home to an array of exceptional maturing stock!

Limited to just 6,000 bottles ….

Limited to just 6,000 bottles, this spirit was distilled in 2009 and matured in a combination of first fill ex-American Rye barrels and first fill ex-Bourbon barrels. Just 29 casks were hand selected to create this single malt, specially chosen from Warehouse 2, where high humidity combined with a relatively cool and temperate environment makes it mark on the maturing spirit.

Bottled at 48.5% ABV to enhance the signature character, Fettercairn Warehouse 2 Batch No. 002 showcases the distillery’s tropical style achieved from the distinctive copper cooling ring distillation process. Natural colour and non-chill filtered, this single malt leads with sweetness and soft spice on the nose and excites the palate with layers of tropical and citrus fruits, complemented by sweet, warming richness and rounding off with cacao and coffee notes, making for a fulfilling yet intriguing taste experience.

The Warehouse Collection celebrates the talent, passion and commitment of the distillery team, coupled with the vision of the Master Whisky Maker in seeking unusual and interesting casks to craft these small batch releases. Limited in number and availability, the Collection has already captured the imagination of both collectors and whisky drinkers with its striking look and transparent whisky making ethos.

With discovery a driving force at Fettercairn, this wonderful collection of whiskies invites drinkers and fans to explore the foundations of its ethos with full details of the cask make-up presented prominently on the bottle and pack of each release.

Fettercairn Warehouse 2, Batch No.002 will be available at an RSP of £55

We were overwhelmed by the response to our first small batch release. This second release takes us on a deep dive into further exploration of the unique Fettercairn flavour, as we have bottled spirit matured in ex American Rye barrels, allowing us to show a more experimental side to our approach.

I never cease to be inspired and enthralled by the diversity and quality of the amazing stock we have in our warehouses, and this itself creates a brilliant canvas to work from. The more I discover, the more excited I get about just what we can do as we continue to create exceptionally refined whiskies and offer something truly unexpected and different.
– Gregg Glass: Whisky maker, Whyte and Mackay

Fettercairn Warehouse 2, Batch No.002 will be available at an RSP of £55 in key global markets including the UK, the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium and France from August from selected specialist outlets.

Tasting notes

Natural Colour: Beautiful rays of warm golden barley.

Nose: Sweet honey, sugared almonds and soft spices married with tropical fruit notes and sweet vanilla.

Taste: A wonderful myriad of flavours dance on the palate. Layers of tropical and citrus fruits are balanced by complex yet harmonised notes of sweet cassia bark, moist ginger cake and warming maple syrup. Light cacao notes then emerge alongside roasted Arabica coffee beans in a robust but refined expression that embraces both the beauty of our spirit and the finest influenced of hand- selected American oak casks.

About Fettercairn

Located in the picturesque village of Fettercairn at the foothills of Scotland’s Cairngorm Mountains, this hidden gem is found among some of the finest and most fertile farming land in the North East of Scotland. With the purest of mountain water as an ingredient, it is almost no surprise that when the distillery was established by Sir Alexander Ramsay in 1824, the enterprising pioneer chose this location.

In the mid-1950s, the whisky-makers at Fettercairn experimented, seeking ways to create a purer expression of their spirit. They found that pouring water down the still cooled the copper, increasing condensation inside so only the lightest vapours could rise for collection. With this knowledge they fashioned a unique copper cooling ring around the neck of the stills drenching them with crystal clear mountain water – an ingenious and practical solution to creating their exceptional whisky, a technique which remains unique in Scotch whisky-making to this day. Fettercairn is home to Icons of Whisky Distillery Manager of the Year Stewart Walker.

About Gregg Glass- Master Whisky Maker

Respected whisky maker Gregg Glass joined Whyte and Mackay in 2016, where he has been a leading light in the rejuvenation of Fettercairn alongside Distillery Manager Stewart Walker.

Gregg enjoyed a childhood in the heart of whisky making country, the Black Isle. With 22 years in industry notably 11 years at innovative whisky maker Compass Box, Gregg joined Whyte and Mackay in 2016 to work alongside renowned Master Distiller Mr Richard Paterson OBE.

Gregg has enjoyed 15 years career as a blender and whisky maker. At Whyte and Mackay Gregg has led whisky development for Fettercairn Single Malt Whisky, Jura Single Malt Whisky and in 2017 launched Whisky Works – an independent innovation wing of Whyte and Mackay.

Gregg is devoted to his craft and believes in flavour-led hands-on whisky making. Gregg is passionately involved in every aspect of the whisky making process from ‘acorn to glass’ and since 2020 leads whisky making across the Whyte and Mackay portfolio.

Introducing Jameson Orange – A Zesty New Take On A Classic Whiskey!

August 10, 2021 by Gary Leave a Comment

Jameson Orange!

Jameson Irish Whiskey, produced by Irish Distillers in Midleton Distillery, is introducing a zesty new expression to its core range!

Building on the success of Jameson Cold Brew, Jameson Orange brings consumers another whiskey-forward spirit drink, inspired by a classic whiskey cocktail, the Old Fashioned.

Jameson Orange will be available in premise and retail in the UK at an RRP of £23.95 from August 2021

Innovating as only Jameson can, Jameson Orange combines the finest triple-distilled Jameson Irish Whiskey with natural orange flavouring. The result is a deliciously smooth, naturally zesty, subtly sweet and perfectly balanced expression. Bottled at 30% ABV and bursting with flavour, the new release introduces a whiskey-focused, modern, low-sugar twist to the growing flavoured spirits category.

With the popularity of flavoured whiskeys and spirits on the rise, Jameson Orange is set to tap into this opportunity through a limited roll out in markets where there is a clear consumer demand for quality flavoured offerings. Debuting on shelves in the UK from August 2021, Jameson Orange will launch in Russia in November alongside a second flavour variant, Jameson Lime & Ginger, inspired by the signature Jameson serve. Jameson Orange will also launch in the US in 2022.

The concept behind Jameson Orange was to create a product which would appeal to a growing audience of flavoured spirits fans, that draws on the quality and integrity of our award-winning triple distilled Irish whiskey.

Like Jameson Cold Brew and the forthcoming Jameson Lime & Ginger, Jameson Orange’s flavours are inspired by a classic whiskey cocktail, and we’re confident that this focus on taste and quality will appeal to a broad audience of whiskey fans, bartenders, and curious spirit drinkers.
– Brendan Buckley: International Marketing Director at Irish Distillers

Taste is at the heart of every sip of Jameson produced.

Triple distilled whiskey like ours involves a carefully crafted process, perfected over hundreds of years. This innovation builds on that craft and we are incredibly proud to share this exceptionally well balanced and intensely zesty creation with new and existing whiskey fans looking to explore and experiment.
– Kevin O’Gorman: Master Distiller at Irish Distillers

Jameson has been driving growth in the Irish whiskey category for over 30 years, selling 7.6 million cases worldwide in 2020. Its success is driven by a large consumer base in the USA and buoyed by other key markets including the UK, Russia, South Africa and Ireland. Jameson also continues to perform exceptionally well in emerging markets including Nigeria, India and Brazil.

Jameson Orange will be available in premise and retail in the UK at an RRP of £23.95 from August 2021

Inspired by a long line of Douglas Laing family Fox Terriers, Scallywag Malt Scotch Whisky is a marriage of aged Speyside Single Malts matured predominantly in Spanish Sherry casks. Anticipate an explosion of rich, dark fruits, chocolate and spice interwoven with late vanilla. Award-winning Scallywag is bottled and released in genuinely small, precious batches.

A unique blend of Speyside Single Malts carefully selected for their rich cocoa notes. Aged entirely in sherry casks. Scallywag The Chocolate Limited Edition is rich, spicy and greedy. We would recommend that you combine this whiskey with a piece of good quality dark chocolate for a pure moment of pleasure.

The original Timorous Beastie, immortalised in Robert Burns’ famous Scots poem “To a Mouse” was a timid, little field mouse. Echoing our national bard’s wit, ours is most certainly not for the fainthearted! Inside there’s a medley of vanilla, malted barley, meringue, honey and citrus flavours just bursting to be unleashed.

Expect the unexpected with Timorous Beastie's Cask Strength Limited Edition! This BEAST of a dram has been 100% Bourbon Cask matured and is proudly offered at a not-so-timorous Cask Strength of 54.9% alcohol. Anticipate luscious layers of complexity and ever-evolving flavours including sweet vanilla, spiced orchard fruits and buttery pastry.
