So, what did I think? Here are my tasting notes …
Well BOOM! That is a gloriously peated dram!
DAY 7 Tasting Notes – “Ménage à Mesquite” Cask No: 53.441 (56.4%)
12 Years old
PEATED flavour profile
Cask Type: Ex-bourbon hogshead then 1st fill ex-oloroso hogshead
Origin: Scotland
Region: Islay
Distillery: Caol Ila
ABV: 56.4%

Nose: Sweet peat and smoke are joined by liquorice with some crunchy apple for contrast.
Palate: Rich, heavy mouthfeel with sweet treacle coupled with smokey peat. Finish: Antiseptic and a warming, savoury chilli spice. Overall: Well BOOM! That is a gloriously peated dram! Rather moreish to be sure and for peated fans a sure-fire winner. It’s a Peated ride, so hang onto your smokey hat! |
