Bladnoch 15 Year Old Bourbon Cask 55% Country: Scotland Region: Lowland Age: 15 Year Old Strength: Summary: A higher strength Blanoch bottled at 55% featuring the sheep label. Matued in ex-bourbon barrel. Bladnoch John and Thomas McClelland opened Bladnoch malt whisky Distillery in 1817 on the northern bank of the River Bladnoch at Bladnoch Bridge just upstream from Wigtown in south west Scotland. Bladnoch Distillery is a small Scottish Lowlands malt whisky distillery and the most southerly of all Scotland’s working distilleries. Closed in 1993 but back in production again in 2000. Bladnoch Distillery is equipped with just two stills, produces peated and unpeated single malt whiskies and fills just a few hundred casks annually. Visitors welcome in the Bladnoch Distillery visitor centre where distillery tours are available. Fruity notes of apple and pear, white flowers and cut grass. Lingering liquorice. Hints of melon, red fruits of raspberry, strawberry. Smooth and oily. |

Talisker 57% North Country: Scotland Region: Island Age: Strength: Summary: A new high strength release from the Skye distillery. A classic, intense, vigorous Talisker with a unique strength of character, which becomes deeper and more approachable when water is added. It’s like looking out to sea with a storm brewing… Talisker Talisker Distillery was established at Carbost on the Isle of Skye off the west coast of Scotland in 1830. Soaking up its own reflection from Loch Harport one day yet fending off North Atlantic gales the next. Talisker is a Scottish Islands malt whisky distillery equipped with five stills and has retained its traditional five round wooden worm tubs. Visitors are welcome at the distillery visitor centre where tours of Talisker Distillery are available. The nose is very clean and intense, with light smoke soon appearing. Creamy toffee, with pronounced fruit acidity. Tart fruit, sweet to start, with smoke and tar abruptly exploding around the middle of the mouth. Sweet-centred, a little like liqueur chocolate, yet tempered by a savoury edge that stops things becoming too polite. The finish is oily and fairly medicinal with a drying tartness. |

Kilchoman Inaugural 100% Islay Country: Scotland Region: Islay Age: Strength: Summary: Featuring a unique new Kilchoman bottle, 100% Islay is bottled at 50% and produced from barley, grown, malted, distilled, matured and bottled at the distillery. Limited release. Kilchoman Kilchoman Distillery was established by Anthony Wills in 2005 at Rockside Farm near the centuries old Kilchoman Cross and the old Kilchoman Church on the Isle of Islay. Kilchoman Distillery is a malt whisky distillery which malts barley grown in Rockside fields and bottles Kilchoman single malt whisky at the distillery using local Islay water. Field to bottle. Kilchoman is the newest and most westerly of Islay’s distilleries and with just two small stills it is one of the smallest working distilleries in Scotland. No tasting notes at present. |

Convalmore 1984 Connoisseurs Choice Country: Scotland Region: Speyside Age: Strength: Vintage: 1984 Bottler: Summary: Convalmore 25 year old 1984 vintage matured in refill sherry hogsheads. Bottled 2010 by Gordon & MacPhail for the Connoisseurs Choice series. Rare Speyside single malt Scotch whisky. Convalmore Convalmore Distillery was founded in 1893 and commenced production of Speyside malt whisky the following year. Convalmore joined the James Buchanan blending empire and together they coped admirably with prohibition. A continuous sill was installed in 1909 and produced malt whisky until 1915 when it was removed and was replaced by four pot stills. The tall square four stage still house which housed Convalmore’s continuous still is still standing and is one of only two remaining in Scotland, the other is at the site of Kirkliston Distillery near Edinburgh. The distillery closed in 1985 and whilst the buildings are still standing all the equipment has been removed and so Convalmore Distillery is one of Speyside’s lost malt whisky distilleries. Nose: Light estery notes, hints of vanilla and fruity. Palate: Spicy – pepper, sweet and mouth watering. Finish: Well balanced. |

Bowmore 15 Year Old Darkest Country: Scotland Region: Islay Age: 15 Year Old Strength: Summary: Bowmore Darkest is a 15 year old Islay single malt Scotch whisky matured in ex-sherry casks. Bowmore Bowmore Distillery was established on the Isle of Islay off the west coast of Scotland by John Simpson in 1779. Situated in Bowmore by the shore of Loch Indaal it is the oldest working distillery on Islay and one of the oldest malt whisky distilleries in Scotland. Bowmore Distillery continues to produce a proportion of its malted barley on its own traditional malting floors and malt kilns. Visitors are welcomed in the Bowmore visitor centre where distillery tours are available in addition to Bowmore Distillery cottages to rent. Bowmore Distillery is a participant in Feis Isle, the Islay Festival of Malt and Music. Ardbeg Ardbeg Distillery was established in Ardbeg on the Kildalton Peninsular on the Isle of Islay in 1815 by John McDougal. Ardbeg Distillery draws soft peaty water from Loch Uigeadail and Loch Airigh nam Beist up amongst the hills behind the distillery. Ardbeg Distillery is a participant in the world famous Feis Ile, the annual Islay Festival of Malt and Music.
