Big Peat / Islay Blended Malt Country: Scotland Region: Islay Age: Strength: 46% Summary: 70cl / 46% / Douglas Laing – Douglas Laing's Big Peat is a blended Islay malt made up of Ardbeg, Caol Ila, Bowmore and, shockingly, Port Ellen – and with pedigree like that, Big Peat is a nailed-on winner. Picked up the top prize in its category at the World Whisky Awards 2010, and 96 points in Jim Murray's 2011 Whisky Bible, along with the award for Best Vatted Malt. |

Released in 2003, this is a delicious honeyed, fruity dram from an often overlooked distillery that has long been rated 'First Class' by blenders lists. |

Bruichladdich 1970 Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky Country: Scotland Region: Islay Age: Strength: 44.2% Vintage: 1970 Bottler: Summary: 70cl / 44.2% / Distillery Bottling – A 2002 distillery bottling of 1970 Bruichladdich matured for about 32 years. This has gone down as one of the best Bruichladdichs in modern memory – a 95 from Whisky Fun's Serge Valentin (and listed as his favourite expression from the distillery), a pile of superlatives in posts across the internet and a quick 'Amazing!!' when I just mentioned it on Twitter. |

Imperial 1982 / 27 Year Old / Cask #3973 Speyside Whisky Country: Scotland Region: Speyside Age: 27 Year Old Strength: 58.3% Vintage: 1982 Bottler: Summary: 70cl / 58.3% / Signatory – A Signatory bottling of the rarely-seen Imperial single malt from 1982. The distillery is currently mothballed, but was taken over by Chivas Bros in 2005. Chivas owners Pernod Ricard have been reviving distilleries of late, so there's hope yet for Imperial, which has had a troubled history, but has produced some very good, even great, malt whisky in the past. |

This is the second UK/European batch since it became wider released than just as a distillery bottling and its nine constituent casks (4 sherry butts, 3 bourbon hogsheads and 2 bourbon barrels) range in vintage from 1991 back to 1966.
