GRANT’S GIVES CONSUMERS THE CHANCE TO WIN A SIGNATURE WEEKEND!

GRANT’S GIVES CONSUMERS THE CHANCE TO WIN A SIGNATURE WEEKEND

GRANT’S GIVES CONSUMERS THE CHANCE TO WIN A SIGNATURE WEEKEND

Grant’s, the number three blended whisky, is launching an on-pack promotion for Grant’s Signature giving consumers the chance to win their ultimate weekend!

The campaign, which will roll out in May, has been designed to engage with the brand’s new target, males in their 30s and 40s and turn consideration into purchase, encouraging consumers to reappraise blended whisky.

The new packaging features an eye-catching promotional label with prizes including driving the Monaco Grand Prix circuit, horse trekking in Morocco and white river rafting in Bosnia. In addition, hundreds of premium leather weekend bags will be given away as runner up prizes.

The on-pack promotion will run across the off-trade from 1st May with up-weighted activity in Tesco including a promotional shipper and digital six sheet ads.

To drive awareness of the on-pack promotion at point of purchase, experiential sampling will take place in-store to encourage consumers to engage with the promotion, try the brand and purchase it.

Ali Cloudsdale, Brand Manager for Grant’s at William Grant and Sons UK commented: “Grant’s Signature has a unique proposition and a clear target market, which has encouraged listings in the top multiple grocers. We’re continuing the significant investment on Grant’s Signature to demonstrate our commitment to the brand and the blended whisky category.

“As a way of attracting a younger, more discerning drinker we have launched a promotion that appeals directly to them, their lives and their interests, adding value to their purchase. The carton also features a selection of serves to communicate Grant’s Signature’s versatility, an important feature that affects shopper decisions.”

Grant’s Signature recently benefitted from increased brand awareness with a £1.2 million Sky Sports TV sponsorship, part of the significant investment behind the brand for 2015.

Glenfiddich Launches This Year’s Malt Mastermind Competition!

September 23, 2014 by Gary Leave a Comment

The Malt Mastermind competition

The Malt Mastermind competition

Glenfiddich has announced the launch of this year’s Malt Mastermind competition.

Returning for the fifth year, the competition calls on bartenders to showcase their flair and creativity by crafting a signature serve, this year using Glenfiddich 14 Year Old Rich Oak, Glenfiddich 15 Year Old or Glenfiddich 15 Year Old Distillery Edition.

For the first time, the competition will focus on the brand’s 15 Year Old variant.

The judging panel will also include two new judges this year.

Joining Mark Thomson (who helped judge last year’s Malt Mastermind) will be Kirsten Grant Meikle, a William Grant & Sons family member and Director of Prestige at the company and Roman Foltan from The Artesian in London.

The final will take place in London on 17th November 2014. All finalists will be required to showcase their serve at the final, as well as take part in an additional challenge to be revealed on the day.

The inaugural wild card entry will be Jamie Ireland from G&V Royal Mile Hotel who reached the final last year and impressed the judges with his creativity when making his ‘Scotsman, Frenchman and an Englishman’ serve.

Sarah Harding, Senior Brand Manager for Glenfiddich, said: “Year on year, the calibre of bartenders entering the competition has only improved with some exceptional serves and creativity showcased.
We are looking for someone who really understands the pioneering spirit of Glenfiddich and someone who has great knowledge of the category, the complex structure of the liquid and how flavours can be used in serves to really complement the whisky and create interesting drinks.

We are also excited to have Kirsten and Roman on board for the first time too. Both bring exceptional levels of knowledge and expertise to the table and we have no doubt, will inspire and enthuse our finalists.”

Bartenders wanting to enter the competition should visit www.glenfiddich.com/uk/explore/malt-mastermind.

They will be required to complete a short online entry form, including details of the serve they would create using the Glenfiddich 14 or 15 Year Old variants.

Win Rare Compass Box Whisky with Master of Malt!

April 21, 2012 by Gary Leave a Comment

The Compass Box Canto Cask 48

The Compass Box Canto Cask 48

Award-winning online spirit retailer Master of Malt is giving away three rare bottles of Compass Box whisky to one lucky customer this month.

Compass Box creates some of the finest blended whiskies available on the market today, from the superlative Spice Tree to the powerful Peat Monster.

The first 250 people to buy a bottle of Compass Box from Master of Malt’s online shop will be automatically entered into a prize draw to win three superb bottles: the exalted Canto Cask 48, the original illegal Spice Tree blend, and Canto Cask 20.

In addition to the prize draw, every bottle of Compass Box will come with a free 3cl dram of one of the company’s other whiskies to savour.

Here’s a list of eligible Compass Box products.

Every bottle bought increases the odds of winning, and remember there are only 250 chances, so there is no better time to discover the Compass Box range at Master of Malt.

The Prizes:

Canto Cask 48

The Canto Cask Range was a first for Compass Box, a fascinating experiment into the effects of oak. Compass Box took sixteen single cask, cask-strength Scotch malt whiskies. Each cask held the same whisky, but for the last 18 months the whiskies were aged in a range of different new oaks, both French and American, in a variety of different toasts. Number 48 used a heavily toasted French oak cask.

Illegal Spice Tree

When the award-winning Spice Tree was first launched back in 2005, the Scottish Whisky Association (SWA) decided the practice of using new oak staves in the finishing process was against the rules, and threatened to take Compass Box to court unless the company stopped making its popular blend. To cut a long story short, the process was modified, Spice Tree was resurrected in 2009, and there was much rejoicing. But Master of Malt has an original, illegal bottle of Spice Tree to give away… keep it under your hat.

Canto Cask 20

Number 20 is strikingly different from 48; it was finished in medium-toasted American Oak, and the effect has produced a very different whisky to the heavily toasted French oak matured 48.

Bloody Scotland: Launch of the Glengoyne Short Story Writing Competition

March 9, 2012 by Gary Leave a Comment

Launch of the Glengoyne Short Story Writing Competition

Launch of the Glengoyne Short Story Writing Competition

Like its whisky, Scotland is world-renowned for the exceptional quality of its crime fiction.

To celebrate and recognise this, Glengoyne Highland Single Malt is proud to announce the launch of a new short story writing competition as part of Scotland’s inaugural international crime writing festival, Bloody Scotland (14-16 September 2012) in Stirling.

With the aim of discovering the next big name in crime fiction the Glengoyne Short Story Writing Competition is now open, giving amateur writers the opportunity to be read and reviewed by some of the most respected authors, publishers and editors in the crime literary world. The prestigious prize will include digital publication by Blasted Heath as the lead short story in an ebook collection of the best competition entries. The winner will also benefit from a week-long residential writing course run by Arvon at a location of their choice.

Glengoyne Distillery’s stillman Duncan McNicoll and mashman Charlie Murray get inspired from Sherlock Holmes for the Glengoyne Short Story Writing competition, part of the inaugural Bloody Scotland International Crime Writing Festival.

Glengoyne Distillery’s stillman Duncan McNicoll and mashman Charlie Murray get inspired from Sherlock Holmes for the Glengoyne Short Story Writing competition, part of the inaugural Bloody Scotland International Crime Writing Festival.

The overall winner will receive a bespoke hand-engraved Glencairn Crystal Decanter filled with an exceptionally rare 35 Year Old Glengoyne Highland Single Malt, worth over £2,000, presented at the closing award ceremony at the Bloody Scotland Festival in September.

To enter, writers need to submit a maximum 3000 word short story online via bloodyscotland.com by 29 June 2012. All entries need to, on some level, incorporate the theme or wording: ‘worth the wait.’

Iain Weir, Marketing Director for Glengoyne, explained: “Crafting a great crime novel takes time, care and attention to detail, but the results are worth the wait. The same attributes are crucial in making Glengoyne Whisky’s natural, unpeated taste and flavour. Scottish crime fiction is an international success story and we are delighted to be part of a competition that celebrates our country’s unique creative contribution.”

Crime author and Bloody Scotland event organiser, Gordon Brown, commented: “With UK retail sales for crime fiction now worth over £143 million, the genre has never been more popular. We are thrilled to have Glengoyne’s support for the short story writing competition. Bloody Scotland celebrates not only our nation’s crime fiction legacy, but the success of crime writing across the globe. Glengoyne’s sponsorship reaffirms the Scottish roots of the festival, but like the whisky, an exciting crime thriller can be enjoyed with a great quality dram anywhere in the world”.

Taking place 14-16 September 2012 in Stirling, Bloody Scotland will have over 20 events and host over 40 UK and international authors, including Scotland’s own Ian Rankin and Val McDermid. Named by VisitScotland as the Year of Creative, 2012 is a landmark date for Scottish crime fiction. Bloody Scotland will also celebrate the 125th anniversary of the publication of the first Sherlock Holmes story, the 35th anniversary of William McIlvanney’s ‘Laidlaw’, the father of ‘Tartan noir’ – and the 25th anniversary of the first Rebus novel by Ian Rankin.

A crime scene from her latest novel, A Pound of Flesh, Alex Gray launched the Glengoyne Short Story Writing Competition in Glasgow’s Blythswood Square. Alex is the brains behind the Bloody Scotland Festival, along with her good friend and partner in crime Lin Anderson. They are also the main organisers along with Jenny Brown (their literary agent), Gordon Brown and Clio Gray, and they are supported by fellow authors who have given their invaluable assistance to help organise the event. Alex Gray said:

Mashman Charlie Murray and stillman Duncan McNicoll search for creative inspiration among the casks for the new Glengoyne sponsored Short Story Writing competition, part of the inaugural Bloody Scotland International Crime Writing Festival.

“With over 40 literature festivals taking place in Scotland each year, not one has ever exclusively recognised the remarkable talent amongst Scottish crime writers. Bloody Scotland will showcase all that is great in Scottish crime literature and indeed the fabulous authors who continue to excite, thrill and entertain us.”

The Glengoyne Short Story Writing Competition is open to all amateur writers over 18 years old. Entries must be uploaded to www.bloodyscotland.com before the closing date of 29 June 2012.
