The Cheshire Whisky Event 2012

The Cheshire Whisky Event 2012

The Cheshire Whisky Event is the whisky tasting and sampling event of the year, taking place on Monday May 7th at Willington Hall, Cheshire.

Willington Hall is famous for its unrivalled views across the Cheshire countryside and magnificent sunsets behind the Welsh mountains, Willington Hall stands in 17 acres of award winning formal gardens and parklands.

Appealing to both the enthusiast and the novice alike, and with expert advice on hand and the opportunity to learn about the whisky basics, The Cheshire Whisky Event is intended to provide the ultimate whisky experience.

The Cheshire Whisky Event gives you the unique opportunity to sample over 100 of the greatest whiskies in the world, whilst mingling with the producers and distillers, marketers and visitor centre staff, all under one roof.

In addition to learning about the world of whisky, you have the opportunity to sample rare and sought after whiskies and meet the stars of the industry.

EXHIBITORS: The Cheshire Whisky Event brings a different balance of exhibitors, however, one thing we do guarantee is a selection of the greatest whiskies in the world.

MASTER CLASSES: These tutored tastings provide a unique insight into the world of whisky and your chance to ask all those hidden questions. You have up to an hour of intense time learning more about your favourite whiskies. Many of the Master classes are dedicated to one brand or expression, presented by brand ambassadors, master distillers, leading experts or Whisky Magazine writers, the Whisky Taste Master classes always guarantee a memorable experience.

TASTINGS: Taste and discover great whiskies, from the classic ranges you may have sampled before to rare and exclusive bottling’s. Exhibitors are always on hand to talk (and drink) you through their range whiskies providing invaluable knowledge and experience.

Ardbeg Uigeadail

Ardbeg Uigeadail
Country: Scotland   Region: Islay
Age:    Strength: 54.2%
Summary: Lauched in 2004 this has become a well deserved legend of an Ardbeg. Conceived as a mix of older sherried Ardbeg and younger bourbon matured stock it has been innevitably prone to batch variation. With older bottlings being more gingery salty and oily. These recent batches are arguably better however with a much heavier sherry slant and some phenomenal thick dark fruits with bags of coastal/peat qualities.

Old Pulteney 21 Year Old

Old Pulteney 21 Year Old
Country: Scotland   Region: Highland
Age: 21 Year Old   Strength: 46%
Summary: Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky For some reason this 21yo is often overlooked. I have no idea why it is one of these wonderful coastal drams that seems to display a perfect balance between vigorous salty notes big doses of honey little flecks of green fruits and some gentle peaty aspects to boot. One of the best Pulteneys ever and brilliant value compared to most of these ridiculous and overpriced official aged drams these days. A real winner.

St. Magdalene 1979 | 19 Year Old | Rare Malts

St. Magdalene 1979 | 19 Year Old | Rare Malts
Country: Scotland   Region: Lowland
Age: 19 Year Old   Strength: 63.80%
Vintage: 1979   Bottler: Distillery Bottling
Summary: Lowland Single Malt Scotch Whisky Do I really need to tell you about this one. Its garnered some well deserved infamy over the years for tasting like a petrol and riesling smoothie. A real once in a lifetime dram that demands to be tasted rather than talked about.

Glen Garioch 1958 / 46 Year Old Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky

March 13, 2012 by Gary Leave a Comment

Glen Garioch 1958 / 46 Year Old Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky

Glen Garioch 1958 / 46 Year Old Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky

70cl / 43% / Distillery Bottling – Glen Garioch is a distillery with a comparatively low profile, and quality has varied over its lifetime under a succession of different owners – but real aficionados will tell you that the older expressions are some of the best malts in Scotland. This is a whisky with fruit and floral notes, but also, crucially, some restrained peat..
