Chivas Regal / 18 Year Old Designed By Lacroix

£ 465.00

Summary: Chivas Regal has joined forces once again with French fashion designer Christian Lacroix to create a lavish limited edition bottle.
Following the success of the award-winning Chivas 12 Year Old Magnum by Christian Lacroix last year, the two international luxury brands – flamboyant fashion designer Christian Lacroix and ultra premium Scotch whisky Chivas Regal – have extended their exclusive partnership, unveiling Chivas 18 Year Old by Christian Lacroix.
Lacroix has delivered a lavish and sophisticated design for the bottle that is perfectly coupled by the bespoke mirrored presentation box, resembling an ancient relic of regal nature. It is a true gem for collectors.
The whisky bottle, label, capsule and presentation box are embellished in a rich tapestry, embroidered and bejeweled, yet still instantly recognizable as the Chivas Regal brand.
The intricate and finely detailed jacquard fabric, interwoven with metallic threads and diamante stones, created by one of the designer’s regular suppliers, is hand applied to the capsule, bottle and box.
Again the bottle features the metallic decoration that was developed for the Chivas 12 Year Old Magnum, but this time the technology as been challenged even further in order to extend it over the curved shoulders of the bottle. These decorative effects, applied in the colour of the whisky onto a premium silver surface, use precision laser technology to deposit thin metal-film features onto the glass substrate.
Chivas Regal global brand director James Slack, said “Christian Lacroix has produced something magnificent in the new Chivas Regal 18 Year Old Limited Edition – a design that perfectly combines the luxury of haute couture and the craftsmanship of luxury Scotch whisky. What we are presented with, is not simply a bottle of whisky, but a crafted collector’s piece. We feel privileged to have worked with Christian Lacroix yet again and are proud to include such an extraordinary limited edition to the Chivas Regal range.”
Chivas Regal 18 Year Old by Christian Lacroix will be released as a limited edition with only 3,000 bottles available internationally and will be available from the travel retail price of US$495.00.
Precision laser technology is used to deposit thin metal-film features onto the glass substrate About Chivas Regal Chivas Brothers is the Scotch whisky and premium gin business of Pernod Ricard – the world’s co-leader in wine and spirits. Chivas Brothers is the global leader in luxury Scotch whisky and premium gin. Its portfolio includes Chivas Regal, Ballantine’s, Beefeater Gin, The Glenlivet, Royal Salute, Aberlour, Plymouth Gin, Longmorn, Scapa, 100 Pipers, Clan Campbell, Something Special and Passport. In July 2010 Chivas Brothers launched The Age Matters campaign to help consumers understand the importance of Scotch whisky age statements. About the House of Christian Lacroix Since its inception in 1987, the House of Christian Lacroix has electrified the fashion world with its collections inspired by Gypsy and Provençal traditions, and by the flamboyant Haute Couture scene in Paris and London during the “Swinging 60's.”

Cask Type: Virgin American white oak.
Distilled/Bottled: 1993/2012
Glenmorangie Ealanta is the fourth annual release in our award winning Private Edition range. Scots Gaelic for 'skilled and ingenious', Ealanta is a 19 Years Old Glenmorangie, fully matured in virgin American white oak casks with a provenance that stretches all the way to the mountains of Missouri and the Mark Twain National Forest. The porous oak wood, air-dried for over 2 years, but in this instance never seasoned with any other whisky, allows our precious spirit to extract maximum flavours as nature intended – producing a whisky of incredible taste and smoothness, with layers of vanilla and candied orange peel, interwoven with sugar coated almonds. Non chill-filtered
Aroma: Toffee, butterscotch, vanilla, and a curious hint of stewed fruits. Classic Glenmorangie mentholic top-note, interwoven with an unusual nuttiness, reminiscent of Brazil nuts in toffee.
Taste: Candied orange peel, sugar coated almonds, sweet vanilla and marzipan.
Finish: The taste goes on and on, finally giving way to some oak-derived spices – clove, ginger and a hint of aniseed.

Horizons, is one of the most unique whiskies to be released by The BenRiach Distillery Company. Traditionally most single malt Scotch whiskies are distilled twice, however during the late ‘90s BenRiach experimented with some limited production runs of Triple Distilled whisky, and theyhave allowed the whisky to mature for a minimum of 12 years before giving you the opportunity to the sample the fruits of their labour.

Summary: The Macallan Reflexion represents the natural colour and beauty of The Macallan – a true reflexion of the foremost influence of first fill sherry seasoned oak casks.
This incredible whisky has been given its character both in colour and in taste in part by the maturation in smaller hogshead casks allowing a greater surface area of wood to interact with the whisky – in this case Spanish and American Oak casks were used in the maturation process.
The result is spectacular both in its rich colour and its its sublime complex taste.

Age: 75 Years Old.
Established in 1895 Gordon & MacPhail is the custodian of some of Scotland's finest and rarest Single Malt Scotch Whiskies.
G&M has long established relationships with distillery owners throughout the country. Oak casks are sent to the majority of Scotland’s working distilleries to be filled with ‘new-make’ spirit, which then mature for many years at the distillery of origin or in bonded warehouses in Elgin.
The oak casks are carefully stowed and regularly checked until they finally achieve their highest quality standards. It’s a patient business, some casks reach over 75 years of age and some have outlived the distillery that produced them.
Mortlach 75 Years Old is a single malt that epitomises Gordon & MacPhail’s approach to single malt, built upon generations of expertise in the industry.
APPEARANCE: Mid-amber, with rubious lights.
AROMA: Fresh and clean; very slight nose prickle: still lively. A highly perfumed, floral top note – lily of the valley, barber’s shop, scented hand cream, soft leather lady’s dress handbag – with a fruity complex in the middle (dried figs, pomegranate, ripe pear. Peach juice); creamy vanilla (Crème Anglaise), even vanilla fudge, and a faint trace of coffee in the background.
TASTE: Sweet to start, but not as sweet as expected; considerable fresh acidity and slightly mouth drying. Bitter almonds. A most unusual trace of hemp ropes and very faded creosote, lending a slight smokiness.
DEVELOPMENT: A medium-length finish, leaving an attractive aftertaste of sandalwood.
COMMENT: A most unusual taste – never before encountered. Smooth and highly sophisticated – elegant as a grande dame – the Ingrid Bergman of malts!
TASTING NOTES: By Charles MacLean.

Following a rigorous judging process and a hard-fought battle, Glenfiddich has crowned Michael Cameron from Guy’s Restaurant & Bar, Glasgow the winner of its renowned Glenfiddich Malt Mastermind Competition, held at Voltaire bar, London.

The 10 finalists battled it out by showcasing a signature serve using a choice of Glenfiddich 12 Year Old, Glenfiddich 15 Year Old Solera Vat or Glenfiddich 18 Year Old. The bartenders then had to take part in a quick fire buzzer round which tested their knowledge of the extensive world of malt whisky.

Judging the contest were Glenfiddich UK brand ambassador, Mark Thomson, Director of Prestige and William Grant & Sons family member, Kirsten Grant Meikle, Editor of The Cocktail Lovers, Gary Sharpen and Ali Reynolds, 2014 Glenfiddich Malt Mastermind winner. The judges based their scores on innovation, taste, technique, performance, presentation and knowledge.

It’s heart-warming to be working with such talent. The respect, yet playful take on our brand was both exciting to judge and kept all the judges entertained, whilst making the winning decision extremely tough to call this year.
– Mark Thomson: UK Brand Ambassador for Glenfiddich

Once again we were blown away by the high standard of the competitors in this much anticipated contest. All of the finalists showcased wonderful examples of innovative whisky cocktails and we hope the competition inspires other bartenders to experiment with Glenfiddich, driving category interest and consumer recruitment.

Chivas Globe-Trotter Made for Gentlemen

Chivas Regal is celebrating craftsmanship, generosity and a passion for travel with the launch of the latest instalment in the ‘Made for Gentlemen’ series. Chivas has partnered with renowned British brand Globe-Trotter in the fourth year of the series to design exclusive collectibles for connoisseurs of luxury whisky and adventure.

Chivas Bottle Tin

Chivas Bottle Tin

Containing the newly re-designed Chivas 12 bottle, the Chivas 12 ‘Made for Gentlemen’ by Globe-Trotter limited edition gift tin is inspired by the long tradition of proud travellers applying decorative stickers onto their luggage. Featuring some of the most iconic cities around the world, the bespoke stickers adorning the tin have been hand-drawn by illustrator Andrew Davidson and represent the truly global footprint of Chivas.

To commemorate the partnership, Globe-Trotter has for the first time created a 20” trolley case for the modern gentleman. The Chivas 12 ‘Made for Gentlemen’ by Globe-Trotter Carry-On Case features a colour matched burgundy vulcanised fireboard and customised lining detailing the Chivas signifier.

As the ultimate luggage piece, Chivas and Globe-Trotter have also created the Chivas 12 ‘Made for Gentlemen’ by Globe-Trotter Steamer Trunk. The made-to-order creation is the ultimate luggage piece complete with a mini bar for the perfect service of the modern gentleman’s bottle of Chivas Regal.

A bespoke backdrop expressing the modern heritage of both brands lines the trunk interior with additional compartments for suits, watches and other travel essentials. Underlining its authenticity, the design of the trunk nods to the art of whisky making with handles crafted from American white oak in honour of the casks that influence the complexities of Chivas 12 Year Old, and a hand engraved copper plaque made from a retired Scotch whisky still.

All proceeds from the sale of the first Chivas 12 ‘Made for Gentlemen’ by Globe-Trotter Steamer Trunk will be donated to The Prince’s Trust charity.

Celebrating iconic global cities and to honour this exclusive partnership, Chivas Regal Global Brand Ambassador, Max Warner, has created the ‘Chivas Maximilian’, a fresh and modern twist on a classic cocktail, the Whisky Mac, and takes inspiration from all four corners of the world.

Chivas and Globe-Trotter form a natural partnership as two luxury British brands. We are very proud to introduce the fourth Made for Gentlemen partnership and we believe the synergies in our values and expert craftsmanship has resulted in this fine collection of limited editions that we hope will inspire adventurous travellers and spirits connoisseurs around the world.

The Dalmore 21 and The Dalmore 30 will be on sale globally

The Dalmore Highland Single Malt is to release two limited edition expressions. “The Dalmore 21” and “The Dalmore 30” are exemplary showpieces of The Dalmore house style created by Master Distiller Richard Paterson.

The Dalmore 30

The Dalmore 30

The Dalmore 21 is initially matured in American white oak and finessed in hand-selected first-fill Matusalem oloroso sherry butts from the Gonzalez Byass bodega in Jerez de la Frontera. With indulgent flavours of orange fondant, brand snaps, fresh coffee, chocolate ganache and marmalade this 21 year old single malt is an outstanding example of The Dalmore house style. Only 8,000 bottles of this limited edition whisky will be available.

The Dalmore 30 is an assemblage of precious liquids that have been nurtured in hand-selected Matusalem oloroso and Amoroso oloroso sherry butts from the world renowned Gonzalez Byass bodega in Spain for 30 years. The result is a decadent nose of cherries, raisins and apples, a palate of sweet mangoes, panna cotta, Columbian coffee and honeyed mulled wine and a robust finish of coconut blancmange, cracked black pepper and rich dates. This stunning whisky is limited to only 888 bottles each of which have been individually numbered.

From watching over the new make spirit as it slumbered in its casks, to selecting the perfect assemblage of fine aged stocks and indulgent woods to finesse our whisky in, both The Dalmore 21 and The Dalmore 30 are whiskies that I have spent many years perfecting.

The results are exceptional; the liquids are rich, complex, and synonymous with The Dalmore – they are truly magnificent.
– Richard Paterson: Master Distiller

Richard’s experience and innate understanding of whisky has taught him respect for the passage of time, his meticulous attention to detail is coupled with a rare ability to select the finest finishes and fills that means each whisky The Dalmore creates is a work of art.

The Dalmore 21 and The Dalmore 30 will be on sale globally, with The Dalmore 21 available from 18th September, and The Dalmore 30 will follow in October.

Ballantine’s Unveils New Bottle For Its 12 Year Old Expression!

Ballantine’s has unveiled an elegant new bottle for its 12 Year Old expression. Rolling out globally from this month, the design evolution demonstrates the quality and super premium cues of Ballantine’s 12 Year Old to appeal to modern whisky enthusiasts.

Ballantine’s 12 Year Old New Packaging

Ballantine’s 12 Year Old
New Packaging

Following the re-packaging of Ballantine’s Finest in 2013, the brand took inspiration from this to develop a confident new look for its 12 Year Old expression. The designs reinforce the close link between the two expressions while highlighting the natural step between them, as discerning drinkers seek to enter and explore the super premium whisky category with Ballantine’s 12 Year Old.

The new packaging adopts the chevron-shaped label of Ballantine’s Finest, creating a more refined, masculine and eye-catching look on-shelf. The navy colour scheme and the greater prominence of the numeral 12 both emphasize the super premium quality of the 12 Year Old, while the re-positioning of the brand’s crest – the Ballantine’s Grant of Arms – and the Ballantine’s ‘B’ help to create a more modern aesthetic.

Thanks to its perfectly balanced taste profile, Ballantine’s 12 Year Old has become an award-winning blend with outstanding quality credentials. We are delighted to present a new elegant, super premium pack for the bottle that stays true to the pioneering values of our founder George Ballantine in his relentless pursuit of quality.

We’re confident that the new design, which is now in line with Ballantine’s Finest, will encourage consumers to trade up to Ballantine’s 12 Year Old for special occasions as they start their journey through the super premium whisky category.
– Peter Moore: Ballantine’s Global Brand director

The new Ballantine’s 12 Year Old bottle has been successfully received through consumer research and will be available globally.

ROYAL SALUTE LAUNCHES THE ETERNAL RESERVE

September 11, 2015 by Gary Leave a Comment

ROYAL SALUTE LAUNCHES THE ETERNAL RESERVE

ROYAL SALUTE LAUNCHES THE ETERNAL RESERVE

Royal Salute is delighted to announce The Eternal Reserve, which uses an innovative blending technique to create an exceptional whisky that will literally live forever.

Royal Salute has selected rare and precious whiskies with an exceptionally long finish to blend and marry together in 88 casks to form the inaugural batch. Using a unique process called Circular Blending, Royal Salute has committed to including this original blend in each subsequent The Eternal Reserve release for decades to come.

Each time a new batch is unveiled, half of the blend will be re-casked in the Royal Salute Vault to conserve the precious liquid created in 2015. Thus, the original blend is forever preserved by this perpetual re-circulation – creating a smooth, voluptuous whisky that justifies its original name: uisge beatha (the water of life).

From the carefully crafted whisky, to the new porcelain flagon design, Royal Salute The Eternal Reserve is a dedication to the art of true craftsmanship. With distinctive features, the porcelain flagons have all been created with meaning to combine age-old techniques with a contemporary signature icon, which reflects the Circular Blending process.

Time is at the heart of Royal Salute – our youngest blend is 21 years old but the brand was born alongside a thoroughly modern monarch so we constantly blend tradition with the contemporary.

The Eternal Reserve is inspired by artists, writers, and philosophers – all dedicated to understanding the possibility of continuity in the modern world. This superb whisky is our suggestion that eternity doesn’t mean living forever. It means timelessness – and it belongs to those who live in the present.
– Vadim Grigorian: Royal Salute Global Brand Director

The first batch of 88 casks will be released in 2015 and sold exclusively in Global Travel Retail, supported by a digital and experiential promotional and merchandising campaign bringing the Royal Salute The Eternal Reserve story to life.

Royal Salute The Eternal Reserve will be available from September.

Circular Blending Process

Circular Blending Process

Circular Blending Process

The very first creation of Royal Salute The Eternal Reserve began with the preparation of 88 casks of incredibly rare and precious whiskies, all aged in their casks for over 21 years. These whiskies were carefully selected using two criteria: firstly, that each whisky possessed an exceptionally long finish that could be further extended through blending and marrying process and secondly, that the whiskies chosen could be beautifully harmonised in each new batch, while keeping the original signature style forever.

Once selected, the precious whiskies were blended together and then further married in 88 casks in the Royal Salute Vault for a period of six months. This original blend is then blended with other 88 casks worth of precious whisky of exceptionally aged whiskies to complete the first batch.

Before bottling this first batch, our expert blending team holds some of the blend back, returning it to the original 88 casks, so they can form the basis of the next batch. These 88 casks are always safeguarded in the Royal Salute Vault in Strathisla distillery. Each time a new batch is blended, the same process – circulation of 88 casks – is repeated; the whiskies of the 88 casks from the previous batch are added to the new blend of the next batch.

Tasting Notes

A dreamy sensation of ripeness is the first to arrive. Pears in syrup, honeycomb and creamy vanilla. An unmistakable promise of intense sweetness to come.

Like the changing of green to gold and the falling of the leaves, the burst of the rich sensuality of liquid honey, juice-laden oranges and tangy liquorice. Mellow, graceful and serene.
Time passes to reveal a beautiful and incredibly long lingering culmination.
Like the eternal cycle of nature. A finish that lasts and lasts; never-ending.

Rising in the hills beyond Glenlivet, The Conglass Water cascades downstream, flowing through the wild, rugged landscape of Highlands of Scotland. Eventually it meets the Livet, the smooth, flowing river that gives the region its name and inspires the taste of our whisky.
Nose: Sweet, citrusy orange and creamy vanilla flavours are balanced with delicate hints of almonds.
Taste: Incredibly smooth and sweet, this whisky is a treat for the taste buds. The creamy toffee flavours are  delicately balanced with the fruitiness of boiled sweets.
Finish: Long, smooth and slightly dry.

With spectacular views across Glenlivet, Gallow Hill slopes gently above the Distillery. This rugged and remote landscape has hardly changed since George Smith, The Glenlivet’s founder, first started distilling his whisky all those years ago.
Nose: Bursting with fruits from sweet clementine oranges and pears complemented perfectly with toasted almonds and moist, spicy gingerbread.
Taste: Wonderfully sweet orange flavours balanced with rich milk chocolate and a hint of treacle toffee.
Finish: Long and refreshing.
