Caol Ila 1997 Distillers Edition

Caol Ila 1997 Distillers Edition
Country: Scotland   Region: Islay
Age:    Strength:
Vintage: 1997   Bottler:
Summary: 1997 vintage of the stylish and complex double-matured expression of Caol Ila; the Moscatel cask wood not over-evident; richly flavoured yet also drying and finely balanced. Caol Ila Caol Ila Distillery on the Isle of Islay is famous for the stunning view from the still house windows looking out across the Sound of Islay and for the objects which have passed by including naval battleships, smugglers in dinghies, submarines and whales. Caol Ila Distillery was established in 1846 by Hector Henderson on a sheltered but rocky stretch of coast on north east Islay. Now the largest malt whisky distillery on Islay and visitors are welcomed at the distillery visitor centre where distillery tours are available. Caol Ila Distillery is a participant in Feis Ile, the annual Islay Festival of Malt and Music. Wonderfully concentrated pure, clean Caol Ila – peaty and medicinal, with rich fruit, spicy and fragrant. Sweetness and maltiness strike first, then are quickly overwhelmed by peat smoke and intense, clean, crisp flavours. Caol Ila’s signature smoky bonfires are here, and build to quite a size.

Cragganmore 1997 Distillers Edition
Country: Scotland   Region: Speyside
Age:    Strength:
Vintage: 1997   Bottler:
Summary: 1997 vintage of the complex Cragganmore single malt prescribed an out-of-the-ordinary choice for a secondary cask finish. Double matured in Port-wine casks successfully provides the perfectly harmonious partner. Cragganmore Cragganmore Distillery was established by John Smith in 1869 on a site close to Ballindalloch Station in the heart of Scotland’s Speyside whisky region. Cragganmore Distillery is a malt whisky distillery equipped with four very short stills and is one of the few Scottish malt whisky distilleries which continue to cool their new spirit in traditional worm tubs. Visitors are welcomed at the Cragganmore Distillery visitor centre where distillery tours are available. Cragganmore is a participant in the Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival. The mouth is swamped with fruity flavours of cherries and oranges leading to rich tastes of Port-wine and malt, with lingering smoke. Long finish is breathtaking, with a toffee-sweet start and a dry slightly smoky finish. Intriguingly multi-layered malt.

Glenfiddich 1974 Rare Collection 36 Year Old
Country: Scotland   Region: Speyside
Age: 36 Year Old   Strength:
Vintage: 1974   Bottler:
Summary: Specially selected by Glenfiddich Brand Ambassadors from around the world in 2011, this is the first ever vatted vintage of Glenfiddich. Just 1,000 bottles of this exception expression have been released. Glenfiddich William Grant established Glenfiddich Distillery in 1886, built it with the help of his family and Glenfiddich has spent its entire working life prospering in the ownership of subsequent generations of the Grant family. Glenfiddich Distillery is situated in the heart of Scotland’s Speyside whisky region and being equipped with twenty-eight stills the distillery has more operational stills than most other malt whisky distillery in the world. Glenfiddich Distillery has a superb visitor centre offering distillery tours and excellent food is served in the restaurant. The Glenfiddich single malt whisky range includes the Snow Phoenix. Nose: 1974 Glenfiddich Vintage Reserve is rich and oaky with vibrant vanilla sweetness and an intriguing hint of polished leather and liquorice. With the addition of a little water there is a burst of fresh fruit and spice – orange marmalade, ripe berries, cinnamon, nutmeg and caramelised pear. Palate: Initially very sweet with a vanilla toffee character; the oak tannin develops with time giving a pleasing, oily texture and a slightly drier flavour. Benromach Latitude 53 Single Cask #706

Benromach Latitude 53 Single Cask #706
Country: Scotland   Region: Speyside
Age:    Strength:
Summary: Single refill sherry hogshead #706. 2nd release bottled to commemorate Benromach's support of the Clipper 07-08 round the world yacht race. Benromach Benromach Distillery was designed by Charles C. Diog and constructed at Forres in 1898 and was due to commence production in 1899. But demand for scotch collapsed when the principle purchaser of Benromach’s malt whisky Pattison‘s of Leith went bankrupt and Benromach Distillery sat silent as the next decade rolled by. Intermittent production followed until major investment and refurbishment in the 1960s and 1970s turned Benromach into a thoroughly modern Speyside malt whisky distillery, only to close again in 1983. Ten years later it was purchased by the independent bottler Gordon and MacPhail who fired up its single pair of stills in 1998 and nurtured Benromach ever since. Benromach Distillery welcomes visitors into the Benromach Distillery visitor centre, offers distillery tours and is a participant in the Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival.
