Glenmorangie / Taghta Country: Scotland Region: Highlands Age: Strength: 46%. Summary: Colour: Burnt Ochre. Nose: Curiously nutty and salty at full strength, reminding you of brazil nuts embedded in toffee, hints of linseed oil, and some savoury cured ham. A splash of water opens up the whisky, bringing into play a burst of aged balsamic vinegar, dried fruits, tangy-orange, and a gentle reminder of Christmas incense and spice. Taste: The texture is oily and viscous, with a delicious primary flavour of caramelised orange and lemon, plump sultanas, a hint of brown sugar, but then a wave of salty, briny notes – olives, salted cashew nuts and some nice, toasty oak flavours, like walnut and leather. The long aftertaste is rich, mellow and soothing, with flavours of toffee, caramel, chocolate and dates. |

Elijah Craig / 12-year-old / Small Batch Bourbon Country: American Region: American Age: 12 Years Old Strength: 47% Summary: Elijah Craig 12-Year-Old is a true Small Batch premium Bourbon, and had that distinction before the term even existed. Bottled exclusively from a dumping of 70 barrels or less, the brand carries the name of the Rev. Elijah Craig, the man who discovered the method of making true Kentucky Bourbon when he stored his wares in barrels that had been charred in a fire. Elijah Craig is critically acclaimed. It was awarded a “Double Gold Medal” at both the San Francisco World Spirits Competition and WSWA Tasting Competition, and whiskey expert and author Jim Murray calls it “unquestionably one of the great Bourbons.” It has twice been awarded “Best of the Best” from Whisky Magazine. |

Glenfarclas / 10 Year Old Single Malt Country: Scotland Region: Speyside Age: 10 Year Old Strength: 40% Summary: Colour: Vibrant straw-gold. Nose: Tempting sherry-sweet malty tones combine with delicate smokiness, releasing subtle spices. Warming the glass reveals honey, vanilla and pear drops. Flavour: Delicately light, with a mouth-watering combination of maltiness, smokiness and sherry sweetness. Hints of dried fruit, vanilla, cinnamon and cloves tempt the taste buds further. Finish: Long, smooth and spicy, with a delicious, yet delicate, lingering smokiness. Glenfarclas / One Family / Six Generations: Since 1865 Glenfarclas has been owned and managed by just one family, the Grants of Glenfarclas. On the 8th of June 1865 John Grant acquired the tenancy for the Rechlerich Farm and as part of the transaction purchased the Glenfarclas Distillery for £511.19S.0d. To this day Glenfarclas is one of only a few distilleries in Scotland to remain family owned and managed. Now in the hands of the fifth and sixth generation of the family, the Grants remain committed to the vision of creating the best quality Single Highland Malt Scotch Whisky, in the traditional Speyside style. |

Glenfarclas / 105 Cask Strength Country: Scotland Region: Speyside Age: Strength: 60% Summary: Colour: Deep peaty-gold. Nose: Complex, oaky, apples and pears, and a tempting dark toffee sweetness. Flavour: Dry and assertive, develops quickly to reveal a rich spiciness, combined with a hint of oak and sherried fruit. Finish: Amazingly smooth for the strength; wonderfully warming and with a lingering smokiness, yet very rounded. Comment: A great whisky holding all the flavours of all the Glenfarclas in one glass. Being so warming, this is the perfect Hogmanay dram. Don’t be afraid of the strength and order a 210, if you dare! The smoothness makes the 105 drinkable at cask strength, but I suggest adding a little water to fully explore its great depth. Dalmore / 18 Year Old Single Malt Country: Scotland Region: Highlands Age: 18 Year Old Strength: 43% Summary: The Dalmore Distillery has been producing exceptional single malt whisky since 1839 and, for almost a century, was owned by the Clan Mackenzie. The clan’s defining influence on the distillery is still evident to this day, with the iconic royal stag’s antlers – taken from the Mackenzie family crest – adorning each and every bottle of The Dalmore. Located on the northern shores of the Firth of Cromarty, deep in the spectacular Scottish Highlands, the distillery is perfectly placed to take advantage of a feast of natural resources: from the waters of Loch Morie, found high in the hills overlooking the distillery, to the golden barley of the rich coastal soils of the Black Isle. Being sited at sea level is critically important. Enveloped by the salt air, the sea-facing traditional dunnage warehouses provide the ideal conditions for maturation. Time, different cask types, varying sizes, and warehouse conditions can all influence the maturity of a single malt. For this Dalmore, 15 years in bespoke Matusalem, Apostoles and Amoroso sherry butts from Jerez de la Frontera have been elemental. The redolence of these vessels delivers the perfect balance between spirit, wood and maturity. Tasting Notes: potent and robust, this expression delivers a rich and aromatic taste experience. A rich and aromatic heart full of dried spices, cloves, cinnamon and ginger with a concentrated citrus mouth-feel to tantalise your tongue and an abundant aftertaste of spice to reward the palate. |

Typically fresh yet full bodied, this fine Balblair vintage displays aromas of citrus fruits, vanilla, toffee and coconut. The American oak ex-sherry casks used in maturation impart a rich and sweet vanilla flavour. On the palate it is sweet and spicy; fresh fruits and honey combine with a slightly oaky note to create a long and warming finish. BALBLAIR DISTILLERY Exclusively Vintage: Each Balblair Vintage captures the essence of its year in a bottle. They’re only ever selected at the absolute peak of perfection. Handpicked, to represent the very best our Distillery has to offer. You’ll notice our bottles are not marked with an age statement, but simply with the year that the whisky was laid down. From then, every cask is sampled, judged and selected by John MacDonald to find its optimum maturation point. The point at which each Vintage says it’s ready. Our Whisky: Every distillery is different. From its location and water source, to its still shape and wood policy. These are all determining factors in its ultimate outcome – its taste. Our Vintages are intriguingly complex and satisfying. We capture the intense esters at the start of the spirit cut to give our Vintages the core characteristics of apricots, oranges, spices, floral notes and green apples. The heavier oils and lipids at the end of the cut are also captured, giving leathery, nutty and full-bodied characteristics. Our People: Every Balblair Vintage is strongly individual. Each a unique essence of a year, captured in a bottle. Every year, our Distillery Manager, John MacDonald, tastes, judges and selects straight from the cask. And at exactly the right moment, when the balance between the age and the character of the whisky is just right, we bottle it. |
