During the 1810s St. Magdalene Distillery was amalgamated with its near neighbour Bonnytoun Distillery. Opened as Braes of Glenlivet in 1973 and re-named Braeval in 1995. Braeval is a Scottish malt whisky distillery and the highest working distillery in Scotland at an altitude of 352m. A modern pagoda roof towers over an attractive and relatively modern works. With white washed walls and dark slated roofs Braeval is well camouflaged when the snows falls.
