Summary: Aberlour A'bunadh Batch 40 single malt is a natural cask strength Scotch. Taken directly from specially selected sherry casks it is bottled as simply as possible without the use of modern filtering methods or the addition of water.  Aberlour  Aberlour Distillery was founded in 1826 in the town of Aberlour in Scotland’s Speyside whisky region and is situated on the northern edge of Ben Rinnes mountain which accumulates snow and rainwater across its peaty moors and supplies cold, soft spring water to the distillery. Around a half of the spirit produced from Aberlour’s four copper stills is destined for single malts whilst much of the rest contributes to the Chivas brands of blended scotch. Aberlour malt whisky is matured in ex-sherry and ex-bourbon casks and Aberlour A’bunadh single malt whisky has  matured solely in sherry casks. Aberlour Distillery has a visitor centre offering a distillery tour and is an established participant in the popular Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival.  Tasting Notes Nose: Aromas of mixed spices, praline and spiced orange harmonising with rich, deep notes of Oloroso sherry Palate: Orange, black cherries, dried fruit and ginger spiked with dark bitter chocolate and enriched with sherry and oak. Full bodied and creamy Finish: Robust and intense with bitter-sweet notes of exotic spices, dark chocolate and oak

Age:    Strength:

Caol Ila Distillery is a participant in Feis Ile, the annual Islay Festival of Malt and Music. Nose: Unreduced, clean and fresh like wet, salty sand after the tide has receded. Some smoke behind, as from an old bonfire. Adding a little water brings up more freshness. Palate: Unreduced, sweet and salty with a balancing acidity, and fresh as a sea breeze. The trademark clean and smoky character of Caol Ila is here. Appetising. Adding water gives a smoother, softer, sweeter feel, still very maritime, with a nice texture. Sweetly drying overall. Finish: Quite short, drying and warming with a little bitterness. Lingering smoky aftertaste.
